The Team:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is the first cloud built specifically for the enterprise. The team develops a suite of cloud infrastructure products that includes Compute products like Bare-Metal compute, Virtual Machines, Kubernetes Services, and Serverless Computing; Storage products like Block Store, Object Store and File Systems; Networking products like SDN, Load Balancers, and DNS; Security products like Key management and Identity systems; and Platform products like Notifications, Monitoring, and Streaming. What You'll Bring (Objective Minimum Qualifications):

To be considered for a Software Engineer position in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) you must possess the Objective Minimum Qualifications (OMQs) below. Please ensure that your application clearly indicates that you meet these OMQs, either on your resume and/or by uploading additional documents such as a transcript.

  • Complete a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent science/engineering field by June 2026.
  • Proficient (able to complete coding tasks without assistance) in two or more programming languages:
    • C, C++, Java, Python, or similar object oriented or functional programming languages.
  • Demonstrated experience (projects, internships, coursework, research) with three or more of the following areas:
    • Algorithms, Machine Learning, Compilers, Computer Architecture, Data Mining, High Performance Computing, Distributed Systems, Data Structures, Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Object Oriented Design, Network Security, Big Data, Web/Mobile Technologies, Operating Systems, Database Systems, Cloud Computing, Parallel Programming.
  • Have proven experience (internships, projects, coursework) working on at least two of the following areas:
    • Linux Operating Systems, Web Services, Compute Platforms (such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Storm, Ganglia, Nagios, openTSDB, Elasticsearch or others), Agile & Scrum Methodologies
  • Reside in the United States and/or attend a university in the US.

What You'll Do:

We are seeking best-in-class engineers with the expertise and passion for solving challenging unique problems. Key Responsibilities
Systems Software Development:
  • Learns and supports design, develop, and deploy software layers and tooling to automate hardware provisioning and onboarding of servers to large-scale fleet under close guidance.
  • Integrate and validate routine system firmware with hardware components. Collaborate on platform bring-up, firmware updates, platform-level diagnostics, and cross-layer debugging.
  • Supports issues across software, firmware, and hardware layers, working in DevOps and incident response paradigms to maintain reliability and availability.

Software Development and Coding:
  • Implements simple software solutions, with supervision.
  • Learns to adhere to all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Assists with creating and reviewing code for new software features and enhancements following design specifications and develops documents to clarify software design and code.
  • Conducts debugging and troubleshooting to identify and fix simple software issues.
  • Develops fixes for identified issues.
  • Assists with implementing software testing (e.g., functional testing) and quality assurance processes.
  • Conducts or follows software error logging, monitoring, and observability for effective debugging, following detailed instructions.
  • May support the implementation of performance profiling and optimization of coding, within a defined scope.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves basic issues related to application programming interface (API) functionality and integration.
  • Assists with implementing API versioning, lifecycle, and interoperability strategies.

Issue/Defect Collaboration - Software Products Support:
  • Communicates with own team to understand customer issues and align solutions.
  • May provide technical guidance and support to customers regarding customer-reported issues, with direct supervision.
  • Learns to identify customers' interests and may suggest product enhancements based on feedback.
  • Assists team to ensure customer satisfaction through timely resolution of issues and effective communication.
  • Acquires basic knowledge of customer issue and/or defect handling and training processes.
  • Collaborates with experienced colleagues to investigate and troubleshoot product maintenance issues to ensure customer agreement on short- and long-term solutions.

Practices and Standards Compliance - Security and Compliance:
  • Follows detailed guidance from team related to development practices and coding standards.
  • Receives instruction to ensure code quality and adherence to broad acceptance criteria during development.
  • Learns about industry best practices and how to apply them to software development processes.
  • Acquires knowledge about secure coding practices to prevent security vulnerabilities.

Development Operations - System Maintenance:
  • Supports basic periodic maintenance and testing operations for systems that require upgrading or patching (e.g., for critical vulnerabilities).
  • Acquires knowledge for driving improvements, ensuring automation, testing, and debugging of systems to ensure service/product availability, health, support, and reliability.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $74,100 to $148,300 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
