Description
Job Title: Systems Security Engineer (IA)
Location: Fort Meade, MD (Onsite)
Security Clearance: Active Secret
Certification: IAT Level II (Security+ CE or equivalent) or willing to obtain within 3 months of joining
Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and maintain secure system architectures and security controls.
• Support system security engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation activities.
• Apply and validate security configurations, patches, and DISA STIGs.
• Monitor systems for security events, identify risks, and support incident response activities.
• Support RMF, ATO, and continuous monitoring (ConMon) activities.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including SSPs, POA&Ms, SARs, and related artifacts.
• Collaborate with ISSOs, system administrators, network engineers, and project teams to implement security controls.
• Ensure compliance with DoD, DISA, NIST, and organizational cybersecurity requirements.
• Participate in security assessments, audits, and risk management activities.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Systems Security Engineering, Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent), or willingness to obtain within 3 months of joining.
• Experience supporting DoD information systems and cybersecurity requirements.
• Knowledge of RMF, NIST SP 800-53, DoD cybersecurity policies, and DISA STIGs.
• Experience with vulnerability management, security compliance, and continuous monitoring.
• Experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting DISA programs or enterprise environments.
• Experience with ACAS, eMASS, SIEM, or similar cybersecurity tools.
• Experience with cloud security, virtualization, or enterprise network security.
• Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, ISSEP, or other advanced security certifications.
