We are seeking an experienced
Systems Programmer Analyst to join our Information Technology team. This role combines systems analysis, advanced SQL, data analysis, technical documentation, application support, and collaboration with business and technical teams.
The Systems Programmer Analyst will analyze business and system needs, translate requirements into clear functional and technical specifications, investigate complex data and application issues, and support the design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise systems.
The ideal candidate is a strong analytical problem-solver who is comfortable working with relational databases and SQL, understands application and batch-processing logic, and can effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze business and system needs and translate requirements into clear functional and technical specifications.
- Perform systems analysis across applications, databases, batch jobs, interfaces, reports, and operational processes to support enhancements, troubleshooting, conversions, and production support.
- Develop, execute, validate, and optimize complex SQL queries and scripts to research data issues, perform analysis, confirm expected results, and validate business rules and system changes.
- Analyze data structures, database relationships, data models, source-to-target mappings, and application logic to support reporting, integrations, batch processing, and system modernization initiatives.
- Create and maintain requirements documents, functional specifications, process flows, data mappings, test scenarios, validation results, and implementation support documentation.
- Collaborate with business users, developers, database administrators, quality assurance teams, architects, and project teams to clarify requirements, evaluate technical options, and support successful delivery of system changes.
- Support application development and testing by reviewing program logic, validating outputs, creating test data, documenting defects, and assisting with programming or scripting tasks as needed.
- Troubleshoot application and data issues and provide clear analysis of root causes, risks, impacts, and recommended remediation.
- Support production implementations, implementation planning, post-deployment validation, and transition activities.
- Contribute to application conversions, modernization efforts, and legacy-to-modern system initiatives.
- Help design automated parity and comparison processes that reduce reliance on manual, report-by-report validation.
- Support parallel-run and cut-over activities by analyzing results, identifying discrepancies, and helping technical and business teams resolve issues.
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Information Systems, or a closely related field.
- At least three (3) years of progressively responsible, full-time, paid experience in a centralized Information Technology organization performing systems analysis, requirements documentation, application support, data analysis, SQL development, application development, or related technical analysis work.

- Advanced SQL proficiency, including the ability to write, modify, debug, optimize, execute, and validate complex SQL queries and scripts for:
- Data analysis
- Reconciliation
- Troubleshooting
- Reporting
- System validation
- Experience analyzing relational databases, data models, database relationships, source-to-target mappings, stored procedures, data quality issues, and application or batch-processing logic.
- Experience supporting application development, enhancement, conversion, or modernization initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively with developers and other technical teams to clarify application logic, validate outputs, investigate issues, and support design decisions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience is desirable but not required:
- Programming or scripting experience, including Java, Spring, or other modern programming technologies.
- Experience with batch processing, report development, stored procedures, mainframe environments, or legacy technologies.
- Experience developing automated data comparison, parity, or validation processes.
- Experience supporting legacy technologies.
