Systems Engineering Expert Solution Architect - Hybrid
This is a hybrid position and expected to work on-site minimally three days at our Towson MD Campus.

The Job:
As a Systems Engineering Expert Solution Architect, you’ll be part of our Tools and Outdoor Team working as a hybrid employee. You will to lead the development and deployment of systems engineering frameworks, methods, and tools across complex, multi-domain product development programs.
This is a critical role to strengthen systems engineering capabilities across mechanical, electrical/electronic, and software domains, enabling improved product architecture, requirements traceability, and verification and validation processes. You will have a combination of deep technical expertise with strong collaboration and influence skills. You’ll get to:
- Requirements Engineering
- Define, develop, and deploy requirements engineering practices, including requirements definition, decomposition, parametrization, traceability, and lifecycle management.
- Establish robust traceability between requirements, system architecture, and verification/validation activities.
- System Architecture Development
- Develop and guide system architectures for complex, multi-domain products (mechanical, electrical/electronics, controls/software).
- Support platform-based product development across power tools, hand tools, and outdoor equipment.
- Use Case & System Definition
- Lead the development of product use cases and operational scenarios to capture user needs and translate them into system-level requirements.
- Verification & Validation (V&V)
- Define and standardize test strategies, including test plans and test case templates.
- Ensure alignment between requirements, architecture, and validation activities.
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Apply MBSE principles and methodologies to develop system models and engineering artifacts using selected toolsets.
- Support the integration of MBSE practices into product development workflows.
- Capability Development & Training
- Develop systems engineering training materials and conduct training sessions across engineering and product teams.
- Mentor and coach engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams on systems engineering methods and best practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with product management, engineering, program management, and manufacturing teams to embed systems engineering into program execution.
- Facilitate alignment across disciplines to improve decision-making and reduce late-stage issues.
- Metrics & Reporting
- Define and implement systems engineering metrics to track adoption, effectiveness, and impact.
- Communicate insights and progress to leadership and key stakeholders.
The Person:

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, including:
- Requirements engineering and management
- System architecture development
- Verification and validation planning and execution
- End-to-end traceability across the product lifecycle
- Working knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts, methods, and tools.
- Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
- Experience in the design and development of industrial products such as power tools, outdoor equipment, or similar electromechanical systems.
- Understanding of systems safety and reliability engineering principles.
- Experience with at least one systems engineering toolsets such as:
- Jama Connect
- Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE platform
- DOORS NG / Rhapsody
- Familiarity with model-in-the-loop (MiL), software-in-the-loop (SiL), and hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) validation approaches.
