Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that perform IT responsibilities, use E646, Systems Engr-IT.

Lockheed Martin is looking for a dedicated Mission Operations and Integration Systems Engineering Associate Manager to join the Satellite Engineering, Operations & Sustainment Support (SEOSS) team in Sunnyvale, California. This role needs leadership and project management skills. SEOSS supports three programs, NGG OPIR (Next Gen GEO), COOLR (Combined Orbital Operations, Logistics, and Resiliency), and SBIRS (Space Based Infrared System). Position will support the COOLR Factory function focusing on a satellite operations center and labs, including hardware, software, and networking in the operations environment. While COOLR will be your primary focus, your leadership abilities and personnel will also support the NGG & SBIRS contracts, and ensure all programs are operating under best practices and skills are leveraged across programs, in addition to other opportunities that may arise. In addition to SEOSS programs you will also support ESS-GRIFFON needs on the COOLR infrastructure.

As a Systems Engineer Associate Manager, you will:
  • Leverage your strong leadership and project abilities, to successfully communicate the needs of your team
  • Lead the Program's Systems Engineering efforts to include technical decisions, planning, and staffing
  • Support agile workforce utilizing Jira and/or equivalent tools
  • Support the team in planning and execution of work scope and Program execution
  • Provide guidance to a Systems Engineering team to include full Systems Engineering lifecycle management, operations and integration, and their application to assigned program(s)
  • Support staffing and performance responsibilities; in coordination with HR and established processes
  • Establish, manage, and communicate team expectations, goals, roles, responsibilities, and objectives with an emphasis on written and verbal/presentation communications skills
  • Support collaborations with government and customer representatives on critical space-based daily operations and distributed multi-element deliveries and activities
  • Lead and perform technical discussions, system integration, validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
  • Lead, generate and coordinate effort schedules with stakeholders.
  • Ensure that projects are completed on schedule following established procedures, schedules, system requirements, and work plans.
  • Hardware obsolescence tracking & support
  • Standardize processes across programs.
  • Travel to other locations (LM, Contractor, etc.) in support efforts
  • Support Ad hoc tasking by co/senior management and Program Leadership


Basic Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI security clearance
• Scrum Master/Scrum Product Owner certification
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members, customers, and leadership
• Integration experience on a space related program
• Satellite operations facility experience, preferably facility development
• Data center experience, preferably in a DoD environment
• Ability to operate and collaborate in a dynamic environment with solid time-management, being highly organized
• Customer interaction and familiarity with DoD requirements, and proposal preparation and negotiation
• Knowledge of program management, finance, contracts, Earned Value Management (EVM) and demonstrated business insight.
• Comfortable working in a fast paced and dynamic multi-disciplinary environment
• Self-Starter with strong investigative skills and the ability to multitask
• Positive demeanor, accountable and responsible and able to work in a team-focused, dynamic environment
• Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong internal customer relationships.
• Demonstrated experience in project management including schedule development, resource management, tracking progress, budget management, reports, and metrics
• Interpersonal skills for reaching out & managing coordination across multiple disciplines
• Experience leading teams or projects through processes and efforts

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $131100.00 - $243500.00

The salary range for this position is as listed on the requisition. Please note that the salary information listed is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market(work location) and business considerations when extending an offer.

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
