Responsibilities

We are hiring a Systems Engineer who will provide technical expertise to the Army’s Project Management Office (PMO), Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE), working onsite in Huntsville, AL.

 

What you'll do:

 

  • Provide technical expertise in applying the systems engineering process throughout the system life cycle or development of new products and/or existing system products.
  • Participate in meetings between PMO ASE, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), external stakeholders, and in all systems engineering related technical reviews.
  • Support the analysis, development, and integration of existing and/or emerging system technologies into suitable ASE systems and/or subsystems. Activities shall address cost, schedule, performance, Test & Evaluation (T&E), and technical risk issues.
  • Provide input to the development of ASE acquisition program documents such as Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Statements of Work (SOWs), contract CDRLs, Technical Data Packages, and other system drawings and specifications.
  • Support Program Management Reviews (PMR), Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBR), Design Reviews, IPT meetings, user conferences, Entry/Exit Criteria compliance reviews, and other support meetings by preparing draft briefing notes, minutes, and action items.
  • Provide technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) presentations at conferences/meetings, reviews and working groups to include preparation of briefings (content and visuals), development of agendas, and preparation/update of schedules.
  • Advise on systems engineering concepts relating to the detection of threats to rotary wing aircraft.
  • Provide technical expertise with respect to Ultraviolet (UV), Infrared (IR), and Radio Frequency (RF) technologies for sensor systems.
  • Provide recommendations in the development, integration, and maintenance of the PMO ASE Systems Engineering Plan (SEP).
  • Manage and participate in Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings and provide input regarding impact of proposed design changes and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) of ASE products.
  • Perform Trade Study analysis with regards to combined ASE processing capability that feed recommendations by ASE leadership.
  • Perform requirement definition, analysis, design and development of ASE hardware or prototypes as allocated from the system requirements.
  • Coordinate Laser Detecting Set (LDS) Radar Signal Detecting Set (RSDS) DSEM fidelity update to CIRCM/MW models.
  • Support ASE Digital Engineering design, development, documentation, and training initiatives as required by the customer.
  • Foster the development of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) capabilities of ASE personnel providing guidance and sharing expertise.
  • Coordinate MBSE Deep Dive meetings by ASE Product Office to address all Technical Interchange regarding model status.
  • Establish ASE Digital Engineering Classified Capability via MATRIX System (Detect/Defeat Performance mapped to System Performance Requirements).
  • Review SysML model deliveries for the following ASE Product Portfolio: Laser Detecting Set (LDS) AVR-2B; Radar Signal Detecting Set (RSDS) APR-39E(V)2; Limited Interim Missile Warning System (LIMWS); Common Missile Warning System (CMWS); Common Infrared Countermeasures (CIRCM); Improved Threat Detection System (ITDS).
  • Manage development of high-level product models to include key interfaces & system block definitions.
  • Adjust Future Vertical Lift Architecture Framework (FAF) Conformant models when requested.
  • Provide Digital Engineering feedback on CPE Aviation guidance regarding ASE MBSE Implementation Strategy.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedure when executing SysML model simulated variables and provided to ASE Technical Division group for comments/concurrence.
  • Actively participate in Missile Warning (MW) and Radar Warning Infrared Countermeasures (RWIC) activities to ensure proper Systems Engineering/Digital Engineering initiatives are followed to address technical issues.
  • Regularly review Army Engineering Policy for comments addressing Digital Engineering technical guidance and mandates.
Qualifications

What you'll need:

 

  • Education:  AS/AA with 10 years of experience, BS/BA with 8 years of experience, 6 years with an MS/MA or 3 years with a PhD, in lieu of degree, 12 years of applicable experience will be acceptable.
  • Be fluent in the Microsoft Office toolset
  • U.S. Citzenship
  • Clearance: Active Secret
  • Be able to work from the customer facility on a regular basis unless customer approved work outside the local area
  • 6 years systems engineering experience supporting combined Government/Department of War (DoW)

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Experience working in a DoW acquisition project management office is a plus.
  • Experience in Digital Engineering activities (MBSE)
Target Salary Range$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
