Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking incumbent and external qualified candidates to support North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyene Mountain Complex (NCMC) – Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (NCMC-ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract III (NISSC III).  

  

Please note that this is contingent upon contract award, with an anticipated decision expected mid to late 2026.

  

Qualified candidates will help operate, maintain, and sustain critical national mission systems to deliver resilient strategic threat warning and space capabilities as part of a world-wide architecture, providing strategic warning that our nation depends on during a conflict. This program will provide an opportunity to exploit the capabilities inherent in our diverse national systems to better meet the needs of the national command authority and warfighters to detect, track, and respond to strategic threats through 2030 and beyond  

 

The Systems Engineer will support systems engineering, integration, sustainment engineering, and digital engineering activities supporting mission-critical NORAD and USSPACECOM operations within the Cheyenne Mountain Complex environment. This role will support requirements analysis, system integration, technical baseline management, modernization, testing, sustainment, and operational engineering efforts across complex space, missile warning, and command-and-control systems. The ideal candidate will possess experience supporting complex DoD programs in operational or classified environments while collaborating across software, cybersecurity, integration, and operations teams to improve system reliability, mission readiness, and overall operational effectiveness throughout the program lifecycle. 

  

Responsibilities  

  • Support systems engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle including requirements analysis, integration, testing, deployment, sustainment, and modernization efforts  
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, interface definitions, technical baselines, system diagrams, and architecture artifacts  
  • Support integration of hardware, software, network, and mission systems across operational environments  
  • Participate in technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, system performance analysis, and engineering problem resolution  
  • Support sustainment engineering and engineering change activities for operational mission systems  
  • Coordinate with software developers, cybersecurity personnel, operations teams, and external stakeholders to support mission readiness and system reliability  
  • Support digital engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) initiatives where applicable  
  • Participate in Agile engineering activities including sprint planning, technical reviews, backlog refinement, and integration planning  
  • Support verification and validation activities, test planning, and operational assessments  
  • Assist with risk identification, configuration management, and technical planning efforts  
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on system reliability, scalability, maintainability, and operational effectiveness  
Qualifications

Required Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience. Additional four (4) years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree  
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required, ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI access required 
  • Experience supporting systems engineering activities within DoD, Intelligence Community, space, missile defense, or command-and-control environments  
  • Experience supporting system integration, sustainment engineering, or technical mission systems  
  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes, technical documentation, and lifecycle support activities  
  • Experience troubleshooting and analyzing complex technical systems in operational environments  
  • Experience working within Linux and/or Windows environments  
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, software, cybersecurity, integration, and operations teams  

 

Desired Qualifications  

  • Prior experience supporting NISSC I/II, ITW/AA, NORAD, USNORTHCOM, USSPACECOM, or Cheyenne Mountain Complex programs   
  • Experience supporting enterprise risk management within strategic warning, space, missile defense, C2, ISR, or cyber mission environments   
  • Familiarity with RMF, NIST, cybersecurity compliance frameworks, and mission assurance activities   
  • Experience supporting audit readiness, compliance assessments, and operational process improvement initiatives   
  • Familiarity with QA/QC methodologies within service-based or operational sustainment environments   
  • Experience operating within 24×7 mission operations or sustainment programs   
  • CISSP, CISM, CCSP, Security+, or related certification preferred   
  • Experience supporting transition activities, program stand-up, or large-scale DoD contract execution efforts    
Target Salary Range$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
