What You Will Do

Guidehouse is seeking a highly capable Senior Systems Engineer to support a large-scale federal enterprise infrastructure program operating within secure and classified environments.

This role requires a hands-on infrastructure engineering professional capable of supporting mission-critical systems, modernizing enterprise platforms, and maintaining highly available environments that support critical government operations.

The ideal candidate combines deep systems engineering expertise with operational experience across server infrastructure, virtualization, enterprise services, automation, security compliance, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Engineer, implement, maintain, and support enterprise infrastructure environments supporting mission-critical operations.
  • Support Windows Server environments, enterprise infrastructure services, and virtualized platforms across distributed environments.
  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and core infrastructure services.
  • Perform system upgrades, infrastructure modernization, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle management activities.
  • Support VMware-based virtualization environments, virtual servers, and virtual desktop infrastructure platforms.
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize system availability, reliability, resiliency, and operational performance.
  • Support backup, recovery, disaster recovery, continuity of operations, and infrastructure resiliency initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, networking, cloud, application development, and operations teams to implement integrated technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and support high-priority operational incidents.
  • Develop system documentation, engineering diagrams, implementation guides, standard operating procedures, and configuration baselines.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, change management processes, capacity planning, and modernization initiatives.
  • Support infrastructure automation and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
What You Will Need
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor's degree or four (4) additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Six (6)+ years of experience engineering and deploying complex enterprise IT systems.
  • Experience supporting enterprise Windows Server environments and associated infrastructure services.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies including VMware or comparable enterprise platforms.
  • Experience supporting secure, compliance-driven federal environments.
  • Experience implementing system security controls, infrastructure hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation activities.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure operations, system administration, and operational sustainment activities.
What Would Be Nice To Have
  • Security+ certification.
  • Microsoft infrastructure or server administration certifications.
  • Experience supporting Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments.
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience using PowerShell, Python, or other automation technologies.
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-53, RMF, STIGs, continuous monitoring, and ATO processes.
  • Experience supporting classified, national security, intelligence community, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring, logging, backup, recovery, and infrastructure management platforms.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$216,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
