In this role, you'll lead the translation of complex user needs and high-level concepts into clear, actionable system requirements. You will drive system architecture development, guide design and integration efforts, and ensure technical integrity across the engineering lifecycle.
You'll collaborate closely with government stakeholders and senior program leaders, providing informed technical direction, evaluating alternative approaches, and steering feasibility studies that influence program outcomes. Your work will also include creating high-quality technical documentation - from architecture artifacts to engineering and test plans - while helping integrate new designs and technologies into ongoing operations with precision.
Candidates with Cross Domain Solutions experience and skill in drafting or editing a Data Owner's Guide (DOG) will find this role especially impactful. This is a short term position (2-6 months) with the potential of tranferring to another WOOD Federal Soluitions contract in the future.
Security Clearance Requirements:This position requires all candidates to be
U.S. Citizens and
possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph.Responsibilities- Translate user needs, CONOPS, and high-level architectures into clear, testable system requirements.
- Lead design and development activities; provide technical leadership across integration of requirements, design, and technology.
- Advise users on alternative approaches; conduct feasibility studies to de-risk decisions early.
- Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations with minimal disruption.
- Produce crisp technical documentation, including system architecture and system design artifacts.
- Guide implementation planning through System Engineering Management Plans (SEMP) and integration & test plans.
- Engage directly with government counterparts to resolve technical issues and ensure mission alignment.
- Uphold the technical integrity of deliverables and communicate effectively with program staff and senior executives.
QualificationsRequired Education & Years of Experience:- Twenty (20) years experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required. Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is
required. - Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
- Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
