Overview

Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Systems Engineer L4 to lead and support a cohesive engineering team in the design, development, and implementation of advanced computer systems, software, and networks. This role is critical in managing the design, production, and testing of space systems while ensuring they operate securely and efficiently to meet project and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will bring deep systems engineering expertise combined with program management experience to support planning, risk management, and program execution. This individual will demonstrate technical leadership, foster collaboration, and represent the company with professionalism through effective communication and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead systems engineering efforts across the design, development, integration, and testing of space systems
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, develop system specifications, and ensure alignment with mission objectives
  • Develop and execute comprehensive system and test plans in coordination with the user community
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and programmatic risks, ensuring cost, schedule, and performance objectives are achieved
  • Provide technical and analytical expertise to optimize system performance and reduce life-cycle costs
  • Support program management activities, including cost, schedule, and risk tracking, project planning, and execution oversight
  • Prepare and deliver professional reports, proposals, and executive-level briefings to senior leadership and mission partners
  • Drive cross-domain integration efforts spanning air, space, and cyberspace, supporting multi-agency collaboration and technical development initiatives
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and operational focal point for integration of special capabilities and new technologies
  • Contribute to research and development projects by evaluating technologies at varying readiness levels for inclusion in current and future programs

Skills / Experience
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • 15+ years of relevant professional experience in systems engineering, space system acquisition, or related engineering disciplines
  • Demonstrated expertise in system development, integration, test planning, and risk management
  • Experience supporting program management activities, including program development, execution, and evaluation of cost, schedule, and performance
  • Proven success preparing and delivering professional reports, technical documents, and executive-level briefings
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to present findings, recommendations, and solutions under urgent time constraints
  • Ability to drive actions to closure with a focus on timely capability delivery
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of leadership
  • Experience coordinating multi-agency technical development and R&D efforts

Education / Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline (required)
  • Master's degree in a related discipline (preferred)
  • PMP certification (preferred)
  • DoD Acquisition or Systems Engineering certifications (preferred)

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.

Posted Salary Range

USD $220,000.00 - USD $240,000.00 /Yr.
