Responsibilities
OverviewSystems Engineer III serves a critical role in development of Orion Space Solutions products and programs. This critical role is responsible for all aspects of systems design excellence at Orion Space Solutions, on complex spacecraft and payload products. You will be considered a systems engineering technical authority within OSS.
Key Responsibilities- Perform systems engineering activities in all stages of product design, from customer requirements derivation, through design, verification and validation, AI&T, and product launch.
- Derive and manage requirements at all levels of complex space systems, sub-systems and components.
- Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and system-oriented products through their entire life cycle.
- Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics.
- Author and design verification and validation methods and document them through procedures.
- Translate high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and work with other cross-functional teams to develop derived level design implementation requirements.
- Establish and coordinate development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development timeline.
- Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.
- Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.
- Participate in and contribute to Risk Review and Configuration Control Boards.
- Act as the Systems Lead for a dedicated subsystem (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, etc.).
- Management of Interface Control Documentation, specifically payload-to-bus interfaces.
- You will organize, prepare and drive execution of customer-facing milestone design reviews: SRR, PDR, and CDR.
Qualifications
QualificationsRequired- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering field plus 5 years,
MS plus 3 years, or PhD plus 1 year of professional experience in systems engineering for high-reliability space and aerospace applications. - Extensive experience with systems engineering development methods on complex product architectures.
- Experience supporting programs and products through all phases of development - from requirements derivation and development to sustainment.
- Experience with aerospace requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama, or similar).
Preferred- Experience developing and implementing architectures for variety of space and aerospace customers: DoW (national defense), NASA (civil space) and commercial customers.

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
