Full Job Description
FTS has an opportunity for Systems Engineer in Las Cruces, NM.

The Systems Engineer will work multiple mission system projects and tasks-from broad, strategic issues (e.g. policies, concept of operations, etc.) to tactical concerns (e.g., near-term schedules, testing, system integration and transition, etc.) to support vital operational missions.

Responsibilities
  • Support Chief Engineer and government staff to execute systems engineering and integration (SE&I) activities across customer site and work collaboratively with other customer organizations across the mission enterprise
  • Work with SE&I teams to execute site system engineering process; oversee site processes used to document and manage site baseline to accommodate evolving mission needs
  • Collaborate with System Program Offices (SPO), local operations teams, and other Government Agencies to integrate various GEOINT space missions into a ground-based architecture; ensure the delivering organization understands site integration needs and processes
  • Assist in developing standards, processes and procedures, and operations & maintenance plans; review and evaluate technical documentation (e.g. RFCs, CONOPS, requirements; issues and risks, etc.)
  • Represent government's interests at various forums; provide analysis and recommendations to multiple government customers
  • Serve as liaison between GPOC and internal/external organizational project managers to guide and monitor progress
  • Occasional CONUS travel


Required Skills/Qualifications
  • TS/SCI with polygraph
  • BS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) in engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in full system engineering life cycle; from concept, requirements, design & development, to deployment and operational maintenance
  • Experience with project management supporting the delivery, integration, and transition of mission systems and/or mission applications
  • Ability to work independently to support multiple government customers and large, complex projects to address organization's needs throughout system development lifecycle
  • Self-starter, proactively addresses customer requirements without supervision; readily defines solutions for broad, abstract topics
  • Polished communicator (written/verbal), impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment; and comfortable briefing or communicating with senior government managers
  • Strength in collaborating and coordinating with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder


Desired Skills/Qualifications
  • MS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) in engineering discipline
  • Real-time operations experience as a GEOINT spacecraft operator, spacecraft engineer, or ground systems operator; familiarity with space operations and policies, ground operations, and system requirements/governance policies
  • Experience supporting Enterprise test activities, including representing stakeholder interests, ensuring operational requirements are integrated into test planning and execution, and identifying and deconflicting resource constraints
  • Familiar with application of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Agile development, cloud technologies
