Job Summary
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support software development and sustainment efforts for military aircraft support systems. This role combines systems engineering, product ownership, requirements management, and Agile leadership to define, prioritize, and deliver software capabilities. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage requirements, support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and ensure successful delivery throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and prioritize product backlogs, user stories, features, and acceptance criteria.
• Analyze and decompose customer requirements into system and software requirements using DOORS and Cameo.
• Utilize DOORS to manage requirements, traceability, and requirement relationships.
• Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation, including Capability Work Packages (CWPs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Design Documents (IDDs), and requirements specifications.
• Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities using Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML.
• Create and maintain Activity Diagrams, Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs), Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs), Use Cases, Capabilities, and other system architecture artifacts.
• Develop and maintain requirements traceability across customer, system, subsystem, and software requirements.
• Support synchronization of requirements, MBSE models, verification artifacts, and Requirements Traceability Verification Matrices (RTVMs).
• Perform requirements analysis, model reviews, architecture assessments, and technical documentation reviews.
• Collaborate with software developers, database engineers, architects, testers, customers, and leadership to support program objectives.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning activities, including feature prioritization, dependency management, risk assessment, and capacity planning.
• Identify, communicate, and coordinate the resolution of technical issues, risks, dependencies, and project blockers.
• Support software integration efforts involving APIs, databases, and external systems.
• Participate in technical reviews, customer demonstrations, release planning, and SDLC activities.
• Support system migration initiatives, including platform migrations where applicable.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with IBM DOORS for requirements management and traceability.
• Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Experience creating and maintaining SysML artifacts, including Use Cases, Activity Diagrams, Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs), and Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs).
• Experience developing Capability Work Packages (CWPs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Design Documents (IDDs), and requirements specifications.
• Experience validating requirements and maintaining end-to-end requirements traceability.
• Experience integrating MBSE models, requirements, and verification artifacts.
• Experience supporting Agile software development using Scrum methodologies.
• Experience with Jira for Agile project management.
• Experience supporting software integration involving APIs, databases, and external systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
• Active DoD Secret security clearance.
• Experience supporting defense or aerospace programs.
• Experience with high-level and low-level requirements development.
• Experience supporting operating system migration initiatives, including Solaris to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
• Experience serving as a Product Owner or leading Agile delivery teams.
• Experience participating in Program Increment (PI) Planning within Agile frameworks.
