Full Job Description
The System Architect role provides technical expertise and technology leadership during sales concept development and project concept design phases in the freight & parcel and postal material handling industries. This role collaborates with the Sales organization to understand customer operations and process challenges to develop industry-leading system solutions within the material handling industry. This role also collaborates within the Execution organization, ensuring concept designs align with system functionality requirements and support concept transformation into detailed design solutions.

Your role in our team
  • You will lead the design and development of material handling system solutions, leveraging deep expertise in equipment technology and operational processes
  • You will partner with clients to define system requirements, analyze data, and deliver solutions that improve efficiency and meet end-user needs
  • You will provide technical leadership during the sales phase, presenting solutions and building client confidence in Körber's capabilities
  • You will support multiple concurrent projects ranging from $1M to $250M in value
  • You will facilitate internal and client-facing meetings to align on system concepts, requirements, and project progress
  • You will develop and utilize material flow calculations and Basis of Design (BOD) to define system performance and throughput
  • You will serve as a subject matter expert on material handling equipment, ensuring optimal technology selection and system integration
  • You will create system concepts, process flows, and material flow diagrams to support solution development and decision-making
  • You will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, bid, and operations teams to develop specifications, pricing, and project handoff documentation
  • You will support system validation through simulation, emulation, and commissioning, ensuring alignment with "as-sold" solutions and acceptance criteria


Your profile
  • You have obtained a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • You have gained a minimum of five years of successful experience in the related field and a successful demonstration of knowledge and responsibilities
  • You are proficient in automation layout and design with AutoCAD 2D or Navisworks, and know about 3D CAD modeling and drafting
  • You can travel 25%
  • You understand automation controls with a demonstrated interest in cross-functional collaboration
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • You can clearly document technical decisions using visuals, diagrams, and concise written explanations
  • You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • You have a proven track record of delivering high-quality work that meets or exceeds customer expectations
