Systems Analyst - Single Mobility System (SMS)

This role works directly with USTRANSCOM stakeholders, operational users, and software development teams supporting the Single Mobility System (SMS), USTRANSCOM's primary Command and Control (C2) platform used to view requirements, plan missions, and track execution. It is an opportunity to apply transportation and mobility expertise to support critical national defense missions while helping modernize and improve enterprise mobility systems.

Work is primarily performed on-site at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, supporting government and contractor teams in mission-focused environments.
Position Summary

C5T is seeking a Systems Analyst to support the Single Mobility System (SMS) program, USTRANSCOM's primary Command and Control (C2) system for planning, monitoring, and executing global mobility operations. This position serves as a key interface between operational users and technical teams, ensuring user requirements, system enhancements, and operational issues are effectively translated into actionable solutions. The Systems Analyst provides operational support, requirements analysis, testing, training, and mission support to SMS users across the Department of Defense transportation enterprise.

This role involves daily collaboration with government personnel, operational users, software engineers, and contractor teammates to support mission-critical transportation and logistics operations.

Location: Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Work will primarily take place in government workspaces with limited telework based on mission requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide operational support to the USTRANSCOM SMS user community.
  • Engage directly with Global Operations Center (GOC) and other SMS users to identify and resolve system issues.
  • Gather, analyze, and refine functional requirements to support emerging operational needs.
  • Document software defects and submit bug reports to development teams.
  • Analyze data from DoD In-Transit Visibility (ITV) and transportation systems.
  • Translate operational requirements into actionable technical requirements for software engineering teams.
  • Support Agile backlog development and requirements management activities.
  • Develop and maintain user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Test, validate, and evaluate new capabilities and system enhancements.
  • Provide solution support across SMS applications and functional areas.
  • Support Jira and Confluence administration and management activities.
  • Assist with software release planning, coordination, and execution.
  • Support mission resilience efforts during steady-state and contingency operations.
  • Deliver user training and operational guidance as required.
  • Prepare and communicate technical and operational information to stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with security, documentation, and program requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Knowledge of USTRANSCOM's mission and global transportation operations.
  • Knowledge of DoD cargo and passenger movement processes across air, land, and surface transportation domains.
  • Experience with transportation and logistics systems including GDSS, IGC, IBS, JOPES, and SMS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Strong team-oriented and collaborative mindset.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and task-prioritization skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and operational processes.
