DescriptionSystems Administrator(IT System Administration-Entry) About the opportunity:This position is part of WaTech's Agency Technology Services (ATS) unit within the Strategy and Management Division (SMD). ATS provides services to internal and external agency staff. These services are either directly delivered by Agency Technology Services or coordinated via other WaTech teams or external vendors. This position reports to the ATS Systems Administration Supervisor.
As a
Systems Administrator, you will perform research, design and develop agency-wide solutions (built with ServiceNow, PowerShell, GitHub, Power Apps, SQL, C#, etc.), which support Human Resources, Finance, and divisional line-of-business requirements. Daily work includes troubleshooting issues, managing platform configurations, supporting application databases, developing custom applications for agency operations, and working directly with customers to ensure reliable delivery of business-critical systems.
DutiesSome of what to expect with this role:- Perform user-level administration and oversight of service area systems to ensure optimal system access.
- Establish and maintain system accounts and access.
- Migrate data from on-premises solutions to cloud solutions.
- Use the agency IT Service Management (ITSM) tool to respond to and manage user tickets.
- Develop and maintain ServiceNow reporting, dashboards and analytics to support KPI tracking and operational visibility.
- Build, configure and optimize workflows using Flow Designer and other automation capabilities.
- Utilize App Engine Studio to design and implement low-code/no-code solutions supporting business process automation
- Apply JavaScript fundamentals and basic GlideRecord techniques to support scripting, troubleshooting and data operations
- Support and maintain integrations, including Representational State Transfer Application Programming Interface (REST API)-based data exchange and Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations.
- Design, develop, configure and maintain Database Management System (DBMS) monitoring tools and alerts.
- Perform DBMS installs, update and validate software as required.
- Build, maintain and diagnose database configurations following agency standards and industry best practices for services and customer agency databases.
- Implement database backup solutions, database software and management tool installations across the agency to support enterprise services and customer agencies.
QualificationsHere's what we're looking for:- Five years of experience developing and supporting enterprise-level applications, including demonstrated experience with advanced customization, SQL databases, and scripting. This must include:
- One year of experience and demonstrated proficiency developing, administering, migrating, and maintaining SharePoint, and Office 365 services.
- One year of experience and demonstrated proficiency developing and administering databases, including demonstrated experience with SSRS, SSIS, T-SQL.
- Formal education in computer science, or closely related field, or completion of an accredited certificate program may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required experience.
- Technical and non-technical writing skills.
- Proven experience managing source code using a source control product.
- Experience working with customers gathering business requirements and translating them into technical requirements.
Preference may be granted to applicants with the following:- Experience using Microsoft's Azure DevOps or GitHub Enterprise in a team development environment.
- Proven DevOps experience, to include firewall requirements planning, server planning and administration in an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) environment.
- Knowledge of networking and telecommunications concepts.
- Knowledge of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

Holidays Full-time and part-time employees are entitled to paid holidays and one paid personal holiday per calendar year.

Full-time employees who work full monthly schedules qualify for holiday compensation if they are employed before the holiday and are in pay status for at least 80 nonovertime hours during the month of the holiday; or for the entire work shift preceding the holiday.

Compensation for holidays (including personal holiday) will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status in the month to that required for full-time employment, excluding all holiday hours. Sick Leave Full-time employees earn eight hours of sick leave per month. Overtime eligible employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month, earn a monthly proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Overtime exempt employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month do not earn a monthly accrual of sick leave.
