Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Systems Administrator (Operator) (26-323) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Based at Schriever Space Force Base, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

The System Test Team is responsible for planning and analyzing all ground and flight tests involving the C2BMC program. Ground test types include pairwise tests, Continuous Developmental Integration (CDI), Integrated Ground Test (GTI), Distributed Ground Test (GTD), cyber tests, Space Domain Awareness (SDA), and pre-flight HWIL efforts. Flight tests are carried out using specific sensors and shooters. International events consist of various ground and flight tests. The Integration group ensures systems are properly integrated before testing or operational deployment. Additionally, the System Test Engineer group handles detailed planning and execution of ground and flight tests, as well as the creation of all necessary test artifacts.

Essential Functions:

  • The System Operator supports the C2BMC System Test & Integration group by configuring and operating C2BMC systems, servers, and other components during ground tests in HWIL and operational environments
  • Data collection and staging are coordinated with the System Test Data Manager
  • The candidate will also learn about the architecture, networks, and data flows of the complex C2BMC system and its interaction with other Missile Defense System sensors and components, which can lead to a role as a System Integrator
  • Non-standard work hours may be required on occasion, depending on test or fielding schedules
  • Position is based at Schriever SFB in Colorado Springs, CO, but travel to fielded sites as well as National Team locations (e.g., Huntsville, HWY83) may be required

Basic Qualifications:

Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
  • Ability to configure, operate, and gather data from servers, NAS devices, and similar systems
  • Experience in troubleshooting systems
  • A self-motivated individual with strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced team environment with both the Government client and internal and external program personnel
  • Desire to quickly expand knowledge while supporting a large, complex system
  • Proficient in Linux and Windows operating systems and MS Office applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applicants with a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND, etc.) at the time of application are highly desired.
