Full Job Description
This position will be based at the Ottawa-Nepean office, however, it will provide backup support for all offices in the Ottawa area.

The Role:

As our Systems Administrator, your primary responsibility is to provide system administration and onsite/remote technical support to users, customers and projects out of our Ottawa offices. The ideal candidate will support standard MDA IT based technology, and technology specific to GSI and Sabre/ AAHATS systems. Work is performed with some supervision, in accordance with established objectives and guidelines, and in support of Corporate and IT policies and procedures. Technical guidance is provided by the Team Lead, Senior Information Technology Analysts, or Project Manager.

The Systems Administrator routinely takes independent actions regarding assigned work. Decisions are typically made within established guidelines. You will act as liaison with field service (external and internal) personnel to identify and resolve system hardware and software problems and escalate or make recommendations to IT or project management, as appropriate, regarding the completion of assigned projects. This role includes a requirement to interact with MDA SPACE's customers across Canada.

Job Responsibilities:
• Provide support to ensure stable, reliable desktop and IT infrastructure systems to MDA SPACE user communities and customers.
• Resolve issues and ensure systems are functioning satisfactorily to meet commitments and Service Level Agreements.
• Interact with internal/external customers, service providers and vendors.
• System administration and support of communications room technology, IT infrastructure, and project technology including:
• Linux and Windows servers
• EMC VNX/Unity and CommVault storage arrays
• LAN, MPLS network and network devices
• Telephone systems (PBX and VoIP)
• Data backup/archiving solutions
• System administration and support of end user technology including:
• Windows laptops and desktops
• Printers
• Desk telephones and voicemail
• Mobile devices with corporate end-point security
• Ruggedized devices and self-contained deployable kits
• Airline operations hardware (boarding pass/bag tag printers, dot-matrix printers)
• Perform Asset and License Management
• Support IT setup for in-house customer training (~40-60 days/annually)

Job Requriements:
• Technology Degree and 3+ years of related support experience in a multi-platform, multi-vendor environment
• Thorough knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems and LAN administration
• Regular travel is required to support customer sites, technology, and projects. Specifically, a condensed period of travel of 6-8 weeks every three years is required.
• Adhere to, and support, of Corporate and IT policies and procedures
• Excellent problem-solving troubleshooting skills
• Superb customer service and communications skills

Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the secret status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and be able to obtain higher clearances.

The compensation range for this position is $75,000-90,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
