Systems Administrator

Position Summary:
As Systems Administrator, you will provide support to Digital Information Technology and Cyber Network Infrastructure for Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) located in China Lake and Point Mugu, California. This position is 100% at Government location.

Security Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be a US citizen with DoD Top Secret security clearance

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain the local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), data communications network, operating systems, and physical and virtual servers.
  • Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems.
  • Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups.
  • Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access. Install and upgrade software and maintain software licenses.
  • May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data
  • communications hardware and software
  • Ensure communications and information integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing security controls in accordance with applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Perform backups of system-level, user-level, and security related information.
  • Test integrity of backup and restoration procedures in accordance with defined policies.
  • Provide input in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain growth statistics, space forecasts and software and hardware inventories.
  • Perform STIG reviews on a quarterly basis to ensure compliance and provide a report of non-compliant STIGS to the Government POC.
  • Conduct monthly maintenance on system assets.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Experience will be accepted in lieu of degree
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification
  • At least 5 years' experience in systems administration
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Windows Desktop administration and security configurations experience
  • Basic understanding of server and other domain services administration
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting network and domain services
    • Log reviews
    • Security configuration and modification
    • Compliance administration
    • Reviewing system scans and mitigating findings
  • Ability to follow IT Service Management (e.g. ticketing) and Configuration Management processes and policies.
Physical Demands and Expectations:
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear, and write with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax, and other office equipment
