Full Job Description
Leidos is seeking a System Engineering Manager who will lead a dynamic team, who will be working on the Federal Aviation Administration's En Route Information Display System ERIDS (ERAM program). ERAM is the core air traffic control system used at all U.S. high-altitude en route control centers. ERAM processes and displays radar surveillance and flight data for air traffic controllers, enabling them to safely manage aircraft flying between airports across the National Airspace System (NAS). The system supports NextGen modernization initiatives such as ADS-B, Data Communications, and System Wide Information Management (SWIM).

Location: WJHTC Pomona, NJ (required for FAA customer)

Responsibilities:
  • Manage SE lifecycle activities including development of CRs, SIGs and PREDs, and all associated SE documentation.
  • Plan engineering tasks, deadlines, milestones, and task sequencing and apply tracking metrics.
  • Provide technical oversight for the SE staff.
  • Work with customer stakeholders to understand and capture user requirements.
  • Lead productivity improvements and adoption/use of AI in daily business rhythms.
  • Control Account Manager (CAM) responsibilities for applicable control accounts.
  • Cost estimating, workload and manpower planning, including authoring Basis of Estimates (BOEs), in support of team's current and future business needs on the program (e.g. proposals and task order preparation)
  • Manage and track schedules, risks, opportunities, defects, change requests, and action items.
  • Ensure delivery of quality work products, including specifications, code, plans and procedures, in accordance with program requirements
  • Facilitate planning meetings, peer reviews, and customer-facing sessions to align with System Engineering objectives and schedules.
  • Interface with the FAA customer to address/answer questions relating to cost, schedule, resource management, and technical aspects of the SE team.
  • Develop and conduct interim and performance reviews for the department personnel, initiate award programs and other employee personnel activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 9+ years of professional experience; or a master's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 8+ years of professional experience.
  • Ability to obtain an SF-85P Public Trust clearance from the FAA customer.
  • Experience leading a diverse System Engineering team; directing activities of a team.
  • Experience with workload, staffing and personnel management.
  • Experience with a large-scale system development program in a system engineering leadership capacity.
  • Strong communication skills to interface with internal and external customers.
  • Experience driving team to critical milestones.

  • The successful candidate will possess advanced leadership skills and the ability to work independently in the following categories of leadership:
    • New system functionality integration
    • Problem Determination
    • Experience with proposal/estimation
    • System Engineering experience (3-5 years)
  • A good academic understanding and/or exposure to system engineering practices to contribute to and/or assist with system integration, requirements engineering, operational and decision analysis, systems definition, requirements baseline control and management.
  • Highly organized, demonstrating the ability to work independently at times due to fast-paced and highly productive work environment.
  • Air Traffic Knowledge and experience working Air Traffic programs with experience/knowledge of the ERIDS system.
