Responsibilities

Experienced with frequent use and application of technical standards, principles and theories. Synthesizes customer contractual needs, requirements, and technical, schedule and cost constraints into solutions for integrating, testing, evaluating, and transitioning systems into operations to deliver enterprise capabilities. Reviews, evaluates and derives requirements for testability. Ensures systems and enterprise capabilities comply with requirements and standards through formal verification methods.

Specific requirements:

  • Troubleshoot, recommend solutions for maintenance and enhancements to Non- Propulsion Submarine/Ship systems including Combat Systems and associated fire control systems including Weapons (Torpedoes, Missiles, Other Payloads) in particular, as well as, Launchers, Sonar, Radar, Periscopes, EW, Navigation systems interfaces at NUWCDIVNPT and/or on-site platforms.
  • Design and/or assess system modernization and capabilities expansions to meet emerging Navy needs.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements to existing systems and operational processes.
  • Conduct test and evaluation and quality assessments for system requirements compliance, interoperability, reliability and cyber invulnerability.
  • Develop reports and recommendation papers describing results of analyses, testing, operational demonstrations, and problem investigations.
  • Coordinate with Team Lead and work with the engineering team to support upgrades to existing weapon systems to meet data requirements.
  • Collect and assess technical data associated with planned, active, and concluded platform Modernization and TEMPALT installation activities, including Pre-Installation Check-Outs (PICOs) and Post-Installation System Operational Verification Tests (SOVTs).
  • Document and present trade studies as to the risks, benefits, feasibility of future systems.
  • Coordinate and support platform technical data package development and delivery.
  • Developing Concept of Operations (CONOPS) documentation, performance specifications, interface documentation, operational procedures.
  • Perform and/or support, functional, integration, system, factory acceptance and environmental testing events.

Qualifications

  • BS 5-7 Years, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2 or HS 10+
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Discipline. In lieu of a degree, candidates with significant, demonstrated experience operating one or more of DoD, US Navy and AUKUS Non-Propulsion Electronic-Mechanical Systems, specifically Submarine Combat Control/Payload Control Subsystem (PCS), Weapons (Torpedoes, Missiles, Payloads), Launcher, USW Sensor, (especially Submarine specific equipment) will be strongly considered.
  • AN/BYG-1 PCS/SWFTS architecture, (hardware/software/tactical equipment ) for predecessor, current and future Combat Control Systems;
  • Knowledge of Launcher Systems Equipment; Torpedoes, Missiles, Payload Control/Strike Operations and associated Platform Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems (NPES) equipment
  • Experience and knowledge associated with engineering functions related to design, troubleshooting, analysis, reporting, and/or testing of complex systems
  • Knowledge of US Navy Submarine land-based laboratory testing and evaluation environment for Combat Systems and associated interfaces network
  • Detailed Knowledge of Submarine Operational Documentation; Ability to Write, Edit, Maintain, especially Submarine Firing Craft Procedures
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to interface with technical personnel, managers, and customers
  • Proficiency with MS office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat and MATLAB.
  • U. S. Citizenship and an active Department of Defense Secret security clearance

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
