Position Summary

Systems Engineer who analyzes user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications. The Systems Engineer analyzes system requirements and leads design and development activities, guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies. This role provides technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology, incorporates new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations, and develops technical and system architecture documentation. The Systems Engineer guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans. The position interacts with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and associated problems, issues, or conflicts, holds ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables, and communicates with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyze user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
  • Lead design and development activities based on system requirements.
  • Guide users in formulating requirements, advise alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies.

  • Derive lower-level requirements from higher-level allocated requirements ensuring completeness, correctness, uniqueness, unambiguity, realizability, and verifiability.
  • Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions.
  • Participate in establishing and gaining approval of system or component definitions providing common reference points for hardware and software developers.
  • Define methods, processes, and evaluation criteria for verification of systems, subsystems, and work products against requirements in written plans.
  • Develop system design solutions that satisfy system requirements and fulfill functional analysis.
  • Develop derived requirements for Information Assurance Services and Basic Information Assurance Mechanisms including security mechanism technology.
  • Review and provide input to program and contract work breakdown structures, work packages, and integrated master plans.
Required Qualifications
  • Fourteen (14) years' experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years of additional Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with Linux (command line, troubleshooting, basic bash scripting).
  • Experience with VMware vSphere, Cisco NXOS, IOS or ACI, NetApp storage, and Puppet.
