Description

SAIC is currently hiring for a System Administrator in North Charleston, SC.

Job Duties:
  • Take full ownership of the day-to-day stability and performance of a dedicated infrastructure stack built on Cisco computing, VMware, and NAS storage.
  • Act as the first responder for hardware and platform-level incidents, applying strong, methodical troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot network components, with a focus on Cisco and Juniper OS, including switches, routers, and VPNs.
  • Work with a high degree of autonomy to manage the health of the hypervisor environment, collaborating with senior engineers when issues require escalation beyond the platform level.
  • Contribute to the administration of hosted services, with an emphasis on supporting and maintaining our Kubernetes (k8s) infrastructure.
  • Work alongside senior system engineers to learn established best practices and progressively take on more system administration tasks.
  • As your skills develop, you will help free up senior team members by managing routine maintenance, monitoring, and user support tasks.
  • Assist in improving operational efficiency through scripting and the automation of common tasks.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's and two (2) years of experience; four (4) years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience Level: 1-3 years in a hands-on IT role. This is not an entry-level position and requires a solid base of experience.
  • Network Troubleshooting: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve network issues. Direct experience with Cisco and/or Juniper OS is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with hypervisor platforms, specifically VMware.
  • Hardware & Storage: Demonstrable troubleshooting skills for server hardware and dedicated NAS systems.
Required Security Clearance:
  • Must currently hold an active Secret security clearance.
