Full Job Description

Amentum is seeking a mid-level System Administrator to support a Department of War (DoW) customer in Springfield, VA. The selected candidate will operate as part of a small, cohesive team maintaining several geographically dispersed, medium-sized secure networks built on a virtualized infrastructure, hosting the latest Microsoft applications and operating systems. This position involves minimal travel within the National Capital Region (NCR) to support remote client locations. The successful candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, as the role requires direct engagement with the client and effective management of multiple concurrent tasks. Applicants must be knowledgeable of basic networking, virtualization, and Microsoft-based operating systems and applications and be familiar with current DoW cybersecurity policies and regulations governing these information systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support an enterprise-wide help desk solution that covers multiple network locations.
  • Be familiar with and implement group policies, host and client access, access rights, and user account maintenance.
  • Research, evaluate, install, configure, and troubleshoot all hardware, peripherals, and equipment necessary to meet integrated systems objectives.
  • Maintain proficiency in and conduct all activities associated with patch management, software installation, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Secure all network equipment in compliance with appropriate Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP/XCCDF), or similar standards, including the associated configurations and operating system updates, in order to meet DoD regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge and use of ACAS, HBSS, WSUS, and similar maintenance systems to secure DoW networks.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled backups and restorations of critical information system data, verifying their success.
  • Stay current with existing and future technologies, identifying ways to leverage technological solutions against current problem sets.
  • Participate in the development and testing of custom software applications to support client needs.
  • Coordinate efforts under the general supervision of the IT Manager; perform additional tasks as deemed necessary to meet customer requirements and deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have an Active Top Secret US Government Clearance with SCI eligibilityand be able to pass a Counterintelligence Polygraph if required.  Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.
  • At least 4 years of experience with following:
    • Microsoft Windows based environments.
    • Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and basic TCP/IP and basic network troubleshooting.
    • Microsoft operating systems and applications; Windows Server 2019 and above, Windows 11 Enterprise, MS Office 2019 and above
  • Current Security+ or other DoD Approved 8140/8570 IAT II certification required for this work role.
  • Current Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ104) certification required.
  • Superb communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong listening, analysis, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, with little to no direction, or within a collaborative, multidisciplinary technical team within a highly structured, mission-focused environment.

Other Requirements:

  • This is a non-remote, full-time on-site position located in Springfield, Virginia.
  • Standard work schedule is 40 hours per week/8 hours per day with the occasional need to flex hours based on customer support needs.
  • Some after-hours or short-term shift work may be required to support urgent customer requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Occasional travel may be required (0-10%).
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time working in an office, lab, or industrial environment where IT equipment is maintained.
  • Must be able to lift various sizes of materials and equipment (up to 50lbs) in a variety of environments installing, configuring, and maintaining IT/network related equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with DoW and classified networks.
  • Knowledge of data security and disaster recovery systems and procedures.
  • Familiarity with Broadcom's VMware and Omnissa's HorizonView technologies.
  • Experience working with PowerShell to develop and implement custom scripts and automation capabilities.

Compensation Details:

$110,000 - $140,000
