Description:

Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a System Administrator to support mission-critical IT systems within secure operational environments. This role is responsible for administering, maintaining, troubleshooting, and securing Linux and Windows infrastructure while ensuring the reliability, performance, and compliance of critical enterprise services.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical professional with strong Linux administration experience, a solid understanding of networking and infrastructure technologies, and the ability to independently resolve complex system issues across diverse environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows systems, resolving issues from the operating system through the application layer.
  • Install, configure, patch, secure, and maintain enterprise Linux platforms including RHEL, Rocky Linux, CentOS, and similar distributions.
  • Manage and support core infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, LDAP, identity management, authentication services, and related network technologies.
  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot virtualized and containerized environments while supporting underlying compute, storage, and networking infrastructure.
  • Support system security, hardening, compliance, PKI, encryption technologies, and cybersecurity tools in accordance with organizational and customer requirements.
  • Diagnose and resolve system, network, storage, and connectivity issues to maintain availability, performance, and operational readiness.
  • Provide day-to-day administration and technical support for mixed Linux and Windows environments while ensuring systems remain secure, compliant, and mission ready.


Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years of experience as a System Administrator supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
    • Five (5) additional years of System Administration experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.


Desired Skills:

  • Experience supporting enterprise Linux and Windows environments, including identity management, authentication services, and secure system administration.
  • Experience with cloud, virtualization, and container technologies such as AWS, VMware, KVM, Proxmox, Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools, including Ansible, Bash, Python, and PowerShell.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, cybersecurity, and infrastructure technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, system hardening, encryption, and root cause analysis.
