Job Summary and Responsibilities

As ourSystem Director, Leave of Absence Administration, you will be the strategic architect and operational owner of a comprehensive leave program supporting approximately 150,000 employees. You are responsible for designing a best-in-class service model that balances stringent regulatory compliance with a compassionate, high-touch team member experience. By governing complex leave determinations, disability accommodations, and pay-advising functions, you will ensure that our organization maintains excellence in leave administration while upholding the integrity of collective bargaining agreements and institutional policy.

Every day you will lead a fully remote, high-performing team, directing the daily operations of our leave case management and contact center intake functions. You will manage the pulse of our leave portfolio through rigorous performance metrics, ensuring that every case is handled with accuracy, timeliness, and empathy. Your role requires continuous collaboration with HR Operations and Legal partners to refine processes, manage third-party vendor relationships, and oversee financial performance, ensuring that our staffing and budgetary resources are optimized to meet the evolving needs of a large-scale enterprise.

To be successful in this role, you will be a seasoned expert in leave management (FMLA, ADA, and state/local statutes) with a proven track record of leading large, distributed teams through complex operational transformations. You will possess the executive judgment necessary to resolve sensitive, high-impact leave scenarios while leveraging data to proactively mitigate risk and identify process gaps. Your ability to integrate digital automation into the leave journey, combined with your commitment to coaching and talent development, will ensure that our Leave of Absence organization remains a reliable, compliant, and supportive pillar of the CommonSpirit employee experience.

  • Direct end-to-end leave operations, including FMLA, ADA, disability claims, and policy-based leave administration for a 150,000-employee workforce.
  • Ensure 100% regulatory compliance and audit readiness through rigorous oversight of legal, state, and collective bargaining leave requirements.
  • Optimize the leave journey through digital transformation, partnering with IT to implement automation and self-service solutions that improve speed and accuracy.
  • Lead and develop a fully remote staff, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and professional growth through specialized training.
  • Manage complex financial budgets, balancing vendor spend and staffing capacity against productivity targets and service-level agreements.
  • Serve as the executive point of escalation for high-sensitivity leave cases, providing sound judgment in alignment with Legal and Risk management guidance.
Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelors Other Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field. or Equivalent professional experience.
  • Eight 8+ years of progressive leave administration or HR shared-services leadership experience, including experience leading large teams (100+ FTEs) through multiple layers of management.
