Job Summary
We are seeking an SVP, Infrastructure Engineering (Mainframe Communications Systems Software Engineer) to provide technical leadership and operational support for enterprise mainframe infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience administering z/OS environments, managing systems software, leading modernization initiatives, and supporting mission-critical mainframe platforms. This role requires strong architectural expertise, hands-on technical skills, and the ability to lead complex infrastructure initiatives with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide operational ownership and support for enterprise mainframe infrastructure, ensuring stable and reliable system performance.
• Administer and support multiple mainframe environments running on z/OS systems.
• Lead hardware and software lifecycle management initiatives.
• Install, configure, maintain, and support mainframe systems software, including Independent Software Vendor (ISV) products using SMP/E.
• Develop and implement infrastructure modernization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with data center operations, production support, and application development teams to deliver enterprise infrastructure solutions.
• Ensure operational readiness through established support processes, controls, and documentation.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot incidents, coordinate problem resolution, and execute maintenance activities.
• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise mainframe infrastructure solutions.
• Provide technical leadership for complex infrastructure projects and engineering initiatives.
• Support enterprise data transport, communications, and connectivity services within the mainframe environment.
• Maintain system security and compliance using enterprise mainframe security technologies.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in enterprise information technology.
• Extensive experience as a senior Mainframe Systems Programmer supporting z/OS or MVS environments.
• Experience administering enterprise z/OS operating systems and system-level software.
• Experience installing and maintaining systems software using SMP/E.
• Strong knowledge of JCL and ISPF/TSO.
• Experience leading technical teams and complex infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture, design principles, system utilities, and data transport technologies.
• Experience with enterprise mainframe security technologies, including RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret (TSS).
• Experience supporting one or more enterprise mainframe technologies, including DB2, IMS, or CICS.
• Knowledge of mainframe communications technologies, including VTAM, TCP/IP, and IBM Connect:Direct.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership for enterprise infrastructure initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the securities or financial services industry.
• Experience installing and supporting Independent Software Vendor (ISV) products.
• Experience with BMC products, including BMC AMI OPS Automation, BMC AMI OPS Monitors, or BMC MainView.
• Experience migrating from Broadcom tools (such as SYSVIEW) to BMC solutions.
• Experience migrating from Top Secret (TSS) or ACF2 to RACF.
• Knowledge of ITIL or IT Service Management (ITSM) practices, including Release Management, Change Management, and Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
