Full Job Description
Optum Home & Community Care Delivery (H&CCD) - the combined LHC Group and Amedisys enterprise operating under UnitedHealth Group's Optum platform - is seeking a Senior Vice President, Data & Analytics to lead the unification, governance, and strategic deployment of analytics across one of the largest home health and hospice organizations in the United States. This is a newly created role that sits at the intersection of integration execution and enterprise analytics transformation, reporting directly to the Chief Strategy & Development Officer.

The SVP will inherit a solid foundation of analytics talent and capability across two industry-leading organizations and will be charged with leveraging those existing resources to build a fully integrated, world-class analytics function - one that establishes unified governance, resolves legacy system complexity, and positions H&CCD to operate as a data-driven enterprise at scale. This role carries enterprise authority and C-suite visibility from Day.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analytics Strategy & Enterprise Leadership
    • Develop and execute an enterprise-wide data and analytics strategy aligned to H&CCD's clinical, operational, financial, and strategic objectives within the Optum ecosystem
    • Serve as the primary analytics thought leader and executive sponsor for data-driven decision-making across the combined organization
    • Represent H&CCD analytics interests within Optum, managing upstream reporting requirements and parent organization integration expectations
    • Chair or co-chair the Data Governance Steering Committee, with accountability for enterprise analytics prioritization and resource allocation
    • Champion analytics literacy across all levels of leadership, fostering a culture where data informs every significant business decision
  • Data Governance & Single Source of Truth
    • Resolve legacy definition conflicts between LHC and Amedisys data environments as the foundational integration deliverable - establishing agreed-upon definitions for clinical, operational, and financial metrics across the combined enterprise
    • Align consistent metrics and performance definitions across all operational units, ensuring clear metric accountability across clinical, financial, and operational business domains
    • Establish and enforce enterprise-wide data governance frameworks - data ownership, quality standards, and governance policies ensuring data is accurate, accessible, and used consistently
    • Drive creation of a single source of truth for critical data domains including clinical outcomes, operational performance, managed care contracting, and revenue cycle.
Implement master data management strategy and data lifecycle policies consistent with HIPAA, CMS regulatory requirements, and Optum standards
  • Analytics Organization Design & Talent
    • Assess, stabilize, and develop analytics talent across both legacy organizations - addressing leveling disparities, attrition risk, and institutional knowledge concentration as an immediate priority
    • Build and lead a centralized analytics organization encompassing enterprise BI & reporting, data science, core technical capability, and Optum integration reporting
    • As data governance, metric definitions, and data use consistency mature across the enterprise, establish the governance model for business analyst roles embedded within clinical, operational, managed care, and financial business units - evolving toward a hub-and-spoke accountability structure that balances central standards with functional responsiveness
    • Attract and develop senior analytics leadership capable of operating in a complex, matrixed, Optum-aligned healthcare environment
  • Platform Execution & Data Architecture
    • Lead and accelerate the active enterprise migration from MicroStrategy to Power BI - consolidating reporting operations, driving self-service adoption across business units, and maximizing platform analytical capability in the near term
    • Retain strategic flexibility to evaluate and evolve the analytics platform as the organization's AI/ML integration demands and enterprise maturity develop over time
    • Define and own the enterprise data architecture: cloud strategy, data warehouse, data engineering pipelines, and technical infrastructure required to support analytics at scale
    • Partner with the Chief Information Officer on technology roadmap alignment and the boundary between IT infrastructure and analytics capability
    • Govern the responsible development and deployment of AI/ML and generative AI capabilities in alignment with Optum standards and enterprise risk tolerance
  • Advanced Analytics & Insight Generation
    • Lead the analytics function to deliver actionable insights across clinical quality, operational efficiency, managed care performance, revenue cycle, and business development
    • Build and deploy predictive and prescriptive models that support value-based care contract performance, utilization management, and outcome optimization
    • Ensure business leaders have access to timely, accurate, and decision-ready reporting and dashboards across all functional domains
    • Develop and execute the enterprise AI/ML analytics roadmap, integrating advanced capability across clinical, operational, and commercial functions
  • Cross-Functional Partnership & Stakeholder Management
    • Build trusted relationships with the C-suite - CSO, COO, CFO, Chief Clinical Innovation Officer, and CIO - translating business need into analytics capability and analytics output into business action
    • Navigate governance boundaries across functional business units, establishing clear accountability for analytics delivery across all domains
    • Manage the Optum Integration Reporting function, ensuring H&CCD fulfills parent organization data obligations while protecting operational focus

You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in data, analytics, or information leadership roles, with 5+ years at the SVP, VP, or equivalent senior leadership level
  • Healthcare sector experience - deep familiarity with clinical data, payor-provider dynamics, HIPAA compliance, and CMS regulatory requirements
  • Executive presence and communication capability - able to translate complex analytics concepts for C-suite and board-level audiences and advocate credibly for data-driven strategy
  • Experience leading enterprise BI platform migration and adoption programs, including self-service analytics capability development
  • Demonstrated experience leading analytics through a post-merger integration, multi-system consolidation, or major organizational transformation in a healthcare setting
  • Proven track record of building and leading centralized analytics organizations - from talent development through governance design and platform execution
  • Solid working knowledge of data governance frameworks, master data management, and enterprise-scale data quality programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in data science, statistics, health informatics, business, or a related field; MBA or clinical informatics credential a plus
  • CHIE, CPHIMS, CDMP, or equivalent health data management certification
  • Home health, hospice, or post-acute care sector experience - familiarity with OASIS, home health claims data, episode-based payment models, and care center operations analytics
  • Experience operating as an analytics leader within an Optum-affiliated or large integrated health system environment
  • Exposure to value-based care contracting analytics and population health data infrastructure

Leadership Profile:

  • The right candidate for this role is not defined by their resume alone. H&CCD is seeking a specific combination of leadership attributes that the integration context and Optum environment demand:
    • Decisive and action-oriented. Comfortable making consequential decisions with incomplete information, accountable for outcomes, and capable of moving an organization forward without waiting for perfect data
    • Builder's mindset. Energized by the opportunity to create integrated structure from two solid but distinct foundations - and clear-eyed about what that requires in terms of organizational capital, relational investment, and sustained focus
    • Technically credible, not technically siloed. Able to engage deeply with data engineers and architects while operating as a peer to the CFO, COO, and clinical leadership
    • Politically astute. Capable of navigating the complexity of a large parent organization, a multi-legacy-entity integration, and a C-suite with competing priorities - without losing momentum or organizational trust
    • Talent multiplier. Builds teams that outlast their own tenure. Invests in developing others as a core leadership responsibility and sees the stabilization and growth of analytics talent as a personal mandate

Travel:

  • Travel may be required based on business need, implementation activity, and leadership expectations.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
