About This Role
The Sustaining Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the Sustaining Engineering organization and ensuring the successful lifecycle management of commercial HVAC and data center cooling products manufactured at the facility.
This role provides leadership for sustaining engineering resources supporting factory operations, product quality, field issue resolution, cost reduction, supplier localization, regulatory compliance, engineering change management, and product reliability improvement initiatives. The position serves as the primary engineering owner for sustaining activities and is accountable for product support after production release while partnering closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Service, Supply Chain, Product Management, Design Services, and Program Management.
The Sustaining Engineering Manager will build and lead a high-performing engineering team focused on delivering robust technical solutions, driving operational excellence, improving customer satisfaction, and supporting the overall business objectives of the new facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, develop, and mentor a team of mechanical, electrical, controls, and systems engineers.
- Establish strategy, priorities, resource plans, and execution objectives for sustaining engineering activities.
- Create a culture of accountability, technical excellence, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
- Drive engineering productivity, prioritization, and execution of sustaining engineering projects.
- Partner with manufacturing operations to resolve production issues and improve manufacturability.
- Provide engineering leadership for factory support activities including quality escapes, non-conformances, turnbacks, and production disruptions.
- Ensure engineering changes are reviewed, documented, validated, and released in accordance with company processes.
- Coordinate implementation activities across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, service, and quality organizations.
- Support supplier localization efforts and dual-source qualification initiatives.
- Ensure sustaining activities maintain compliance with applicable regulatory, industry, and Carrier standards.
- Maintain strong engineering governance and adherence to design standards.
- Provide clear communication, risk identification, prioritization, and status reporting to engineering and business leadership.
- Travel up to 10%.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of professional engineering experience
- 5+ years of experience managing and leading project teams
OR
- Master6#39;s degree and 5+ years of professional engineering experience
- 5+ years of experience managing and leading project teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor6#39;s or Master6#39;s degree in Engineering
- HVAC industry experience
- Experience in new product development, service, or manufacturing
- Experience building a team
- Strong communication skills
- Six Sigma Certification
Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $117,500.00 - $234,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.
Other Compensation
Thisposition is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
