Job Description

The Survey Technical Field Engineer provides critical onshore technical and operational support to the worldwide Survey Services fleet. This role is essential in ensuring the successful execution of survey operations, offering troubleshooting expertise, equipment calibration, and technical support for various survey projects. Working closely with both field teams and project managers, the Survey Technical Field Engineer helps maintain the operational integrity of survey systems and equipment while ensuring alignment with project specifications, timelines, and safety standards. With a strong focus on remote support, this position helps optimize field operations, driving efficiency and technical excellence across diverse global locations.

This is a U.S.-based position with work locations in Broussard and Morgan City, LA. Work schedules will be determined by the manager based on business needs. The role requires the ability to work occasional overtime and/or weekends, as well as the willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed for project requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide support to all Oceaneering divisions and subsidiaries to include
  • Survey Services (CNAV, S&P and GEO)
  • Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV)
  • Advanced Technologies (AdTech)
  • Sales & Commercial
  • Products and Services
  • Installations
  • Training & Competency
  • Supply Chain Management (SCM)


Perform the following functions via phone, email, office or onshore site visits within the 24/7 support framework
  • Provide dedicated technical support for critical and high-profile jobs.
  • Assist fleet with installation and interface of survey equipment.
  • Assist fleet and shop personnel with complex troubleshooting, repairs and upgrades of survey equipment.
  • Assist in building and maintaining good client relations.
  • Assist in training field personnel.
  • Assist in Manufacturing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and System Integration Testing (SIT).
  • Assist in internal and external technical queries regarding equipment or services.
  • Provide feedback and assist in development of in-house training.
  • Provide feedback and assist in development of new technologies and processes to improve fleet efficiency.
  • Trend Non-Productive time and assist in developing equipment and process improvement plans to increase fleet reliability.
  • Perform feasibility and integrations testing for new equipment and technologies.
  • Create technical procedures and flow charts to assist the fleet in performing complex tasks
  • Maintain library of technical and supporting documentation
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as required to support organizational objectives.


Qualifications

REQUIRED
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience and / or training in marine survey or hydrography; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with survey software and data analysis tools a plus.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime and/or weekends
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed for project requirements.


DESIRED
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Current security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Experience in offshore operations.
  • Knowledge of environmental and regulatory standards for surveying in the offshore industry.
  • Familiarity with data management and quality assurance procedures.


Working Conditions
  • Primarily outdoors during the day and occasionally at night.
  • Frequently working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • Humidity is frequently above 90%.
  • Noise is over 85 decibels.
  • Light is intense/glare.
  • Occasional exposuire to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
