Job SummaryThe practice of a Surgical physician assistant shall include medical services within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant that are delegated by the supervising physician.
Medical services rendered by Surgical physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; assisting at surgery; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals. Surgical Physician Assistants, in an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical and surgical procedures at the hospital for affiliates. An emergency, for these purposed, is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and that a qualified practitioner is not immediately available.
The activities listed below may be performed in any setting authorized by the supervising physician, including but not limited to, clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, patient homes, nursing homes and other institution settings.

Qualifications- Bachelor Degree in Physician Assistant Studies required
- NYS PA license & registration
- Physician's Assistant program Preferred
- OHS Fit Test
- OHS Annual Assessment
- NYS PA license & registration required.
- BLS/ACLS required.
- Infection control/child abuse required.
- NCCPA required.
- NPI required.
