Summary

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) Information Systems Division, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Duties

Help

The incumbent in this position acts as the Service Owner to provide service for information assurance, delivery, support and technical expertise for information assurance operations for information systems services.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Developing methods to monitor and measure risk, compliance, and assurance efforts. .
  • Reviewing or conducting audits of information technology (IT) programs and projects. .
  • Coordinating and manages the overall service provided to a customer end-to-end.
  • Participating in the acquisition process as necessary.
  • Developing supply chain, system, network, performance, and cybersecurity requirements.


Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.

A. Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level I (FAC P/PM-II) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position.

B. Information Assurance Management Level III (IAM-III) or management determined

equivalent within two years of entry into the position.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal or private sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

Specialized experience may include the following:

  • Manage cybersecurity planning efforts by identifying security requirements, assessing policy compliance, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring cybersecurity considerations were incorporated into IT programs, systems, and lifecycle activities.
  • Manage program requirements, tracking milestones, coordinating deliverables, resolving program risks and issues, and ensuring IT initiatives were completed in accordance with mission priorities, policy requirements, schedule, and budget.
  • Manage and coordinate requirements for budget, manpower, materials, facilities, contracts, services, and other resources needed to support aviation, enterprise, or mission-critical IT systems.
  • Assigning work, establishing priorities, monitoring performance, providing technical direction, reviewing work products, resolving complex issues, and ensuring team activities supported program goals and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Coordinate with senior leaders, program offices, technical teams, cybersecurity personnel, resource managers, contracting officials, and external stakeholders to support IT and cybersecurity program objectives.


NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year.
