Job Summary:

The Supply Chain Specialist III is responsible for the planning, procurement, and reporting activities of purchased materials supporting Nova Biomedical manufacturing operations. This role manages a complex category of commodities while balancing cost, inventory performance, supplier relationships, and service levels to support the timely manufacture and distribution of quality products. The position is expected to identify cost-saving opportunities and develop strategies that improve overall inventory management and supply chain performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with all Nova purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Schedule and place purchase orders with suppliers based on MRP requirements and inventory policies.
  • Manage inventory levels to support manufacturing demands.
  • Develop supplier relationships and establish delivery methods that support Kanban inventory management and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Oversee purchasing processes to ensure on-time delivery and resolve material shortages caused by shipping delays.
  • Solicit and evaluate supplier proposals involving complex pricing structures.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements and contracts when applicable.
  • Evaluate supplier performance to ensure quality, service, delivery, and competitive pricing requirements are met.
  • Work with Distribution and Supplier Quality teams to resolve receiving issues, returns, and nonconforming material concerns.
  • Work with Finance to resolve supplier invoicing issues.
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers and establish long-term supplier relationships.
  • Partner with Engineering on component sourcing and implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Work closely with Planning to ensure material availability supports production schedules.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and key supply chain metrics.
  • Participate in supplier management review meetings.
  • Maintain accurate MRP planning parameters including item masters, lead times, and ordering policies.
  • Prepare and distribute purchase order reports while maintaining accurate reconciliation of purchasing information.
  • Analyze inventory profiles, replenishment methods, lot-sizing requirements, inventory turns, and slow-moving inventory.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve inventory performance.
  • Support cross-training and development within the Purchasing department.
  • Participate in cross-functional process improvement initiatives.
  • Support Quality Assurance activities and audit requirements as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, supplier capabilities, and supply chain best practices.

Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing purchasing, planning, and inventory management experience.
  • Experience using MRP systems; SAP experience preferred.
  • Experience with purchasing management systems.
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with extensive experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated decision-making abilities and sound business judgment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Comfort with working at a computer for extended periods.
  • Capacity to lift and carry up to [25• 50] pounds as required
  • Able to communicate effectively via phone, video, and written communication.
  • Occasional need to move about the office to access meetings or resources.

Work Location: Hybrid in Waltham, MA (4 days onsite)

Targeted Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000
