General SummaryThe Supply Chain Specialist independently performs a broad range of activities supporting Vertex's Cell and Gene Therapy Supply Chain. This role is responsible for executing well-defined operational tasks and supporting projects of increasing complexity under limited supervision. Key responsibilities include managing turnaround times, tracking patient and batch-related milestones, monitoring deliverables, and ensuring patient supplies progress through each stage of the supply chain according to established processes. The Specialist collaborates closely with cross-functional partners including Finance, Regulatory, Commercial, Logistics, Quality Assurance (QA), Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT), Manufacturing, and other stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:- Participate in assigned project activities and timelines under the guidance of management, supporting initiatives of varying scope and complexity.
- Partner with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to execute transactions related to patient and batch milestones.
- Ensure completion, accuracy, and tracking of supply chain documentation and records.
- Manage inventory activities, including inventory tracking, reporting, and analytics.
- Support department and project team operations by:
- Developing PowerPoint presentations
- Maintaining dashboards and project metrics
- Tracking project status updates
- Effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Troubleshoot routine operational and process-related issues.
- Take meeting minutes and maintain project documentation.
- Assist Supply Chain teams and external suppliers in the execution of workstreams and deliverables.
- Monitor and follow up on supply chain deliverables to support timely patient treatment schedules and operational objectives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications- Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Life Sciences, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to analyze routine business and supply chain issues, identify solutions, and escalate more complex problems when appropriate.
- Strong customer-service orientation with the ability to balance stakeholder expectations and operational requirements.
- Working knowledge of supply chain concepts and practices, with an interest in developing expertise in regulated environments, including GMP, GCP, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships across functions and organizational levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage workload and contribute to team success.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry preferred.
Education and ExperienceRequired- Associate's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred- Experience supporting supply chain operations within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cell therapy, gene therapy, or related regulated industry environments.
- Familiarity with GMP, GCP, and FDA-regulated operations.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams supporting manufacturing, quality, logistics, and commercial operations.

Pay Range:
$74,400 - $111,600

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
