Job Description:

Caterpillar's BCP supply chain division is hiring for Supply Chain Planning Engineer in Athens, GA!

Job Description / Role Definition:

  • Lead projects to implement cost efficient supply chain solutions that enable the BCP Growth Strategy
  • Lead cross functional teams to deliver NPI & NSI supply chain planning requirements on time and under budget
  • Perform analysis to identify and develop business improvement opportunities

What You Will Do / Responsibilities

  • NPI & NSI:
    • Lead cross-functional teams to identify, define, and implement cost-efficient solutions for material flow; includes building internal and external alliances to execute projects
    • Deliver supply chain planning data on time
    • Coordinate with BCP Packaging Team to deliver custom packaging solutions on time and under budget
    • Lead Part Replenish Plan Meetings to define critical customer requirements and business requirements for large overseas components and custom racks
  • Lead Supply Chain Optimization Projects: reduce operational and inventory holding costs by:
    • Develop and analyze data to identify and prioritize opportunities for improving performance and creating more cost-effective supply chains, inventory utilization, and business partnerships
    • Investigate and incorporate industry benchmarks, metrics and best practices to develop optimal supply chains for suppliers and/or product sets
    • Collaborate among Division and Corporate business partners to establish effective linkages, identify process improvements, and reduce costs

Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations, Engineering, or related field

What you have

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Supplier Management – Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers; experience with custom packaging vendors, transportation carriers, and logistics & warehouse providers; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
  • Supply Chain Management - Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistics processes
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.
  • Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Skills):

  • Experience with delivering NPI program requirements
  • Packaging design and validation experience
  • APICS CSCP Certification desired

Additional Information:

  • Up to 20% domestic travel to be expected; potential for international travel
  • Relocation is not available for this position
  • Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position
  • This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office

 

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
