Supply Chain Planner
Position Summary:


This position is a critical role supporting Generation Development project pursuits enabling Xcel Energy to meet its long-term energy supply goals. As a Supply Chain Planner, you will work closely with Engineering and Supply Chain Category Managers to proactively manage early project planning, enterprise standards, category demand and asset tracking from project initiation through hand-off to Project Managers in the Major Projects Group (MPG). The role will require effective time management, solid communication skills, a self-starter mentality and agility to be successful. The Supply Chain Planner will add tremendous value to ensuring Xcel Energy's success for the future.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Manage equipment reservations and delivery schedules across the portfolio. Develop and implement a tax-advantaged strategy with the Category Manager and Development Project Managers supporting Production and Investment Tax Credits.
  • Support Development Project Managers and Category Managers in managing vendor relationships. Monitor compliance across buying channels, supplier, and contract purchasing execution. Coordinate the resolution of disputes and contract adjustments with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Regular alignment with Engineering and Category Managers on current and forward-looking project demand for categories with long lead times such as transformers, circuit breakers, wind turbines, and combustion turbines.
  • Manage project tracker and category reservation app to ensure project delivery and COD dates are current, category slot reservations are secured, and schedule changes are aligned across Xcel and Suppliers. PO issuance dates are met and deliveries are tracked.
  • Coordinate with Development Project Managers to maintain integrity of Material ID's.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to gather equipment bid requirements, specifications, and specialized terms & conditions for long lead materials for materials with long lead times. Participate in bid evaluation teams to analyze proposals and award contracts.
  • Drive the integration of sourcing and business project plans and coordination across Engineering, Corporate Development, and Energy Supply Operations to support enterprise-wide standardization of technology and equipment specifications.
  • Lead collaboration with Category Managers and Engineering to support project needs in alignment with category strategies.
  • Serve as the communication conduit between Supply Chain and various Business Groups (Engineering, Project Managers, Supply Chain and Tax). Manage communications with Suppliers with regards to project forecast changes.
  • Manage schedules for timely payment authorizations, status updates to stakeholders regarding upcoming procurement materials, schedules, and milestones for major Request for Proposal (RFP) initiatives.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree with 4 years of supply chain planning experience
  • Understanding of supply chain principles (contracts, lead times, PO's, lifecycle management)
  • Ability to communicate well with internal stakeholders and suppliers, including all levels of leadership (Director, VP)
  • Self-motivated, quick learner and ability to prioritize multiple project categories at the same time
  • Proficiency in Excel, data systems and problem-solving skills
  • Up to 20% domestic travel


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Utility experience with Energy Generation (regulatory approvals, project planning)
  • Understanding of Federal regulatory impacts on Energy Supply Chain - Tax, Tariff, Trading Policies, etc.
  • Experience using SAP


Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $84,900.00 to $120,000.00 per year
