Full Job Description
JOB SUMMARY / GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for hiring, managing and developing Supply Chain Planners, Senior Planners and
Associates and for overseeing the planning of inventory across all McLane Foodservice divisions and restaurant
concepts. Manage the purchase order generation and communication for all food and supply items. Develop strategy
and manage implementation to optimize the supply chain. Also responsible for ensuring purchase order execution to
leverage price changes, inventory buy-ins, managing inter-division inventory transfers and controlling obsolescence.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned. A teammate in this position must have the ability to:

  • Manage team of Supply Chain Planners to complete day-to-day replenishment functions for a distribution
    company including demand forecasting, purchase order generation and management through to receipt.
  • Hire, train and develop staff. Monitor daily performance. Provide direct supervision, guidance and
    performance reviews and development plans as required.
  • Assign and balance work across the team to meet the constantly changing needs of the business. Arrange for
    coverage during absences and vacancies.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and training to new and less experienced teammates.
  • Lead team to support both ongoing business and chain promotions including forecasting, managing inventory
    replenishment, and obsolescence review.
  • Manage inventory levels and flow to optimize receiving, storage, picking, and loading operations.
  • Meet or exceed days in inventory targets.
  • Maintain or exceed sales compliance goal for each customer chain and across all divisions.
  • Monitor inventory planning to minimize spoilage and obsolescence across compartments.
  • Work with Chain Management and Export to meet special inventory needs.
  • Identify and manage projects that will result in savings, income, improved inventory flow or operational
    effectiveness.
  • Develop processes that minimize extraordinary cost incurred within the system. Work with distribution
    centers, logistics and others to implement.
  • Work with DCs and logistics to generate purchase orders in a manner that supports backhaul revenue.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
A teammate in this position must:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years purchasing or planning experience in a high volume, high inventory turn environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with ability to lead and influence others.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Balanced judgment and ability to multi-task and prioritize when confronted with competing objectives.
  • Strong computer literacy demonstrated ability to work with spreadsheets and prior experience with an ERP.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management, including replenishment, logistics, distribution, pricing, and
    customer service.
