JOB SUMMARY:The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end procurement activities for the business. This role leads strategic global sourcing, purchasing, risk mitigation, cost reduction and supply base expansion activities to assist in enhancing performance and growth of the organization. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, and a creative, critical thinker with a strong motivation to learn. The Supply Chain Manager must be an effective communicator and be able to work as a leader of professionals to generate a high-quality work product in a collaborative, creative, ever-changing, and often ambiguous environment. We expect a professional demeanor and an ability to interact with suppliers, internal business partners and stakeholders at every level.
Key activities include development of the supply chain team, efficient and cost-effective sourcing of strategic direct and indirect materials and supplier relationship management.
Direct line reporting to Director, Supply Chain with dotted line reporting to Director of Operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Develops and implements business wide material procurement strategies, leading strategic sourcing activities (RFI's, RFP's, competitive sourcing events, negotiations, data analysis, supplier development and selection) to optimize costs, working capital, and commercial terms.
- Leads supply chain / sourcing team in a fashion that provides excellent business partnership and support services to internal and external stakeholders. Continuously assessing, developing, hiring and performance managing talent are key components of this role.
- Partners with Sales, Operations and Engineering and teams to evaluate and support new business opportunities by developing sourcing strategies, securing supplier commitments, assessing supply chain risks, and ensuring material availability to meet customer requirements and business objectives.
- Leads supply chain / sourcing team in identifying and mitigating supply chain and supplier risks including those associated with single and sole source suppliers. Facilitates organizational activities to address and eliminate identified risks; this may include second sourcing, inventory arrangements or material obsolescence and replacement activities.
- Leads Supply Chain team members through negotiations with suppliers to support best in-class service levels, costs and working capital performance. This will include long and short-term contracts, and renewals related to products, materials, software, capital equipment and other essential goods and services.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) with the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of meaningful category management and strategic sourcing experience across direct and indirect material categories on a global scale.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in directly leading and managing teams of strategic and tactical supply chain professionals in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and ERP operating systems.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills across regions, functions, and levels; fluent in English.
- Embraces and works well in ambiguous situations.
- Excellent analytical and project management capabilities.
- Keen collaboration and influencing skills; works effectively in a matrixed organization.
- Proven and demonstratable record of cost reduction for direct and indirect materials and transportation services.
- Excellent negotiator.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This is primarily an onsite role in an office environment, some manufacturing floor exposure, some travel (up to 20% may be required.)
