Job Description:

Position Objective

The Supply Chain Manager (SCM) for GSC Services (SCS) is responsible for leading a centralized enablement, governance, and process excellence organization that supports Global Supply Chain (GSC) operations. Unlike traditional SCM roles focused on a specific commodity or value stream, this role ensures standardization, compliance, system integrity, and cross-functional coordination across supply chain processes.

The primary objectives of this position are to:
  • Build, develop and lead a high-performing team by establishing clear expectations, strengthening capabilities, and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration
  • Drive enterprise-wide supply chain process standardization and governance
  • Enable operational excellence through data, analytics, and system optimization
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and ESG standards
  • Provide centralized support services that enhance supply chain efficiency and execution
  • Lead high-impact projects and initiatives supporting GSC organizational objectives and strategies


Scope and Dimensions
  • Organization Scope: Enterprise-wide GSC Services (SCS) support
  • Functional Coverage: Master Data, Supplier Performance, Compliance, Process Excellence, Analytics, and Project Coordination
  • Stakeholders: Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, IT, ESG, Quality, and external suppliers
  • Geographic Scope: Multi-site / global support model


Key Responsibilities

1. GSC Services Enablement & Intake Management
  • Lead centralized intake and prioritization of GSC service requests
  • Govern resource allocation across initiatives such as supplier transfers, new item setup, and recost coordination
  • Ensure effective execution of cross-functional supply chain projects


2. Supplier Performance & Delivery Management
  • Oversee system outputs for supplier delivery performance tracking and reporting
  • Drive improvements through dashboards, metrics, and structured escalation processes
  • Support supplier risk identification including algorithm-driven risk detection


3. Master Data & Systems Governance
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and governance of supply chain master data
  • Lead initiatives related to ERP (e.g., LN), Coupa, and Supplier Gateway systems
  • Drive adoption and training for new tools and technologies including AI-enabled solutions


4. Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
  • Standardize GSC processes and maintain documentation (standard work, training materials)
  • Lead process improvement initiatives leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and digital tools
  • Support deployment of dashboards (e.g., Tableau) and analytics capabilities


5. Project & Program Leadership
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional initiatives such as:
    • Audits and compliance activities
    • System deployments (Coupa, Pyxis, etc.)
  • Provide structured governance and reporting across initiatives


6. Compliance, Risk & Governance
  • Ensure compliance with key regulatory and internal requirements, including:
    • SOX audits
    • ESG and CBAM requirements
    • Conflict minerals and modern slavery regulations
    • Country of origin and tariff management
  • Oversee audit readiness and execution (P-card, vendor master, transmittal audits)
  • Maintain supplier compliance systems and documentation


7. Organizational Capability & Support
  • Develop and maintain GSC training programs, skill matrices, and onboarding processes
  • Support hiring and development of talent (new grads, interns, and experienced professionals)
  • Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives (All Hands, workshops, SharePoint sites)


8. Core Operations Support
  • Provide ongoing operational support including:
    • Inventory metrics review
    • Past due PO monitoring
    • Supplier communication and coordination
  • Ensure alignment and consistent execution of GSC processes across teams


Leadership & People Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of supply chain professionals
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration
  • Partner with functional leaders to align priorities and drive results
  • Manage resource planning, workload balancing, and performance management


Key Competencies
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes
  • Expertise in process standardization, governance, and compliance
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with ERP systems, procurement tools, and data visualization platforms
  • Strong project management and cross-functional leadership capabilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills


Qualifications
  • 8+ years experience with a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • Lean / Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Experience in shared services, supply chain operations, or transformation initiatives preferred
  • Experience with global supply chains and regulatory compliance preferred


Summary Pay Range:

$147,760.00 - $221,640.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
