Full Job Description
Job Summary

The Material and Supply Chain Manager develops, leads, and implements strategies to improve the efficiency of the material management function while focusing on cost, quality and on time delivery. Provides overall leadership for all material teams including purchasing, shipping / receiving, inventory control and production planning/scheduling. Standard hours of operation Monday- Friday 40 hours a week with occasional overtime and weekend hours as needed. Travel required 20% of the time.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for organizing, directing, and controlling the materials management, production planning, purchasing, shipping/receiving, warehousing and inventory control in support of the operation.
  • Prepares and manages planning processes and master scheduling regarding production materials used in the manufacturing of customer products, WIP materials flow, procurement systems and shipping.
  • Manages team performance through metrics development, annual reviews, recommendations for hire and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage inventory levels, accuracy, safety stocks and cycle counting.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team using strong interpersonal skills.
  • Monitor and track supplier performance through Quality and OTD (On-Time Delivery). Ensure effective corrective action plans are implemented when needed. Participate in quarterly business reviews with the corporate purchasing team.
  • Develop systems and tools as needed to support shipment of finished goods ensuring all customer requirements for method of shipment, packaging, labeling, etc. are achieved.
  • Drives improvements for material management, obsolete and excess inventory, material shortages, etc. Develop and track metrics as needed.
  • Work closely with Scheduler, Quality Control, and the Operations Manager to track metrics for production releases and other factors that affect scheduling and material flow.
  • Other duties as assigned.

RequiredKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Customer service oriented
  • Must be able to prioritize workload in a multitasking environment, short-term tactical along with longer term strategic activities.
  • Experienced proven leader who leads by example and motivates people to create a challenging, empowering, and collaborative working environment.
  • Maintain and provide current understanding of industry best practices and technology trends.
  • Demonstrated history of successful change management and implementation of operational excellence improvements such as lean manufacturing, demand flow, and Six Sigma.
  • Strong ability to communicate with all levels of the organization from the production floor to the executive office; strong interpersonal, leadership, & organizational skills.
  • Logistic/Transportation/Fleet Management experience.

Education and Experience:
  • Required:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • Minimum 7 years' experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Inventory Control
  • Preferred:
    • APICS Certification Preferred

Working Conditions:
  • A combination of office-related administrative tasks and heavy floor presence
  • Subject to various weather conditions due to material stored outdoors
