Full Job Description
Make an immediate impact. Bascom Hunter is building advanced aerospace and defense hardware. We're looking for a Supply Chain Engineer who can build a high-performing supply base, connect engineering with manufacturing, and ensure parts, services, and equipment arrive on time, at cost, and to spec-from prototype through full-rate production.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and qualify suppliers: Identify, evaluate, and coach vendors for precision mechanical parts and electromechanical assemblies; run capability reviews, scorecards, and improvement plans.
  • Bridge design and production: Turn drawings and requirements into complete, supplier-ready packages (what to make, how we'll measure it, how it's packaged and delivered).
  • Source parts, services, and equipment: Run competitive bids, build total-cost analyses (price, tooling, yield, logistics), and negotiate pricing and terms; set up multi-year or dual-source agreements when needed.
  • Get suppliers ready for production: Plan the manufacturing and inspection approach with our Quality team, verify the process is stable, run trial builds at the required pace, and approve the first parts before full release (First Article).
  • Reduce risk and cycle time: Drive lead-time reduction, smart inventory strategies for long-lead items, and dual-sourcing where appropriate.
  • Solve supply issues fast: Unblock late deliveries, quality escapes, and obsolescence; qualify alternates and keep programs on schedule.
  • Work with our QA team to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements (e.g., AS9100D quality system; new-product introduction/first-article expectations; special-process approvals; export controls; priority-rated orders; and customer contract flow-downs).
  • Keep data clean and visible: Maintain accurate part/vendor records in ERP/MRP (Deltek Costpoint or similar) and present supplier risks, capacity, and recovery plans to leadership.

What You'll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or similar (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years in sourcing, supplier development, supply chain, or manufacturing engineering for mechanical/electromechanical products
  • Comfortable reading drawings and discussing manufacturability, tolerances, and measurement methods with suppliers
  • Strong negotiator with solid cost/should-cost and total-cost thinking
  • Proficient with ERP/MRP and spreadsheets; clear written and verbal communication
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred

  • Background in aerospace/defense or other highly regulated industries (first-article, production-readiness, special processes)
  • Experience sourcing manufacturing/test equipment (from defining needs and ROI through installation/commissioning)
  • Familiarity with export rules and customer contract requirements
  • Exposure to thermal-management systems, rotating machinery (fans/pumps), or ECS components

Tools You'll Use - ERP/MRP (Deltek Costpoint or similar), PLM/PDM and CAD viewers (e.g., SolidWorks), basic SPC/measurement tools, MS Office/Teams/SharePoint.

Why Bascom Hunter

  • High-impact role bridging engineering, quality, planning, and operations
  • Growth path in supplier development, commodity leadership, and operations
  • Competitive compensation and benefits; hybrid work flexibility
  • Meaningful mission building advanced aerospace systems
