Supply Chain Buyer - Cockpit

In this position...

Ford is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to support sourcing efforts for a Cockpit commodity, contributing to sourcing strategy development, program sourcing activities, material cost reduction, risk and resilience management, supplier relationship management, market analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. This is a business-critical, high-visibility position with a direct impact on Ford's overall turnover and bottom-line performance.

In this role, you will support a Commodity within Cockpit sourcing strategy, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to help deliver innovative, cost-effective, and resilient supply solutions that support Ford's broader business objectives. This position offers substantial career growth potential, with a path to Senior Buyer and Manager Level roles as part of Ford's ongoing investment in developing top talent within this team.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...
  • Strategic Execution: Support the development and execution of comprehensive purchasing strategies for a Cockpit Commodity, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives and financial targets. You will actively contribute to Pulse improvement initiatives and collaborate with the team to optimize delivering business results.
  • Future Program Sourcing: Lead sourcing activities for future vehicle programs, partnering with Product Development early in the design phase to identify capable suppliers, assess make-vs-buy and technology readiness, and help build competitive, resilient sourcing strategies that position Ford for successful launches.
  • Support supplier relationships: Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with key strategic suppliers, driving performance, innovation, and long-term partnerships. You will help establish and maintain strong cross-functional relationships using Supplier Relationship Framework (SRF) principles and manage positive relationships with the supply base by acting like a partner, being accountable, trusting and being trustworthy, communicating with consistency, being fact-based while driving for results, and thinking value not just price.
  • Risk ManagementResiliency: Proactively identify and help mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring continuity of supply and supporting resilient supplier networks. This involves monitoring the financial health of the supply base, including follow-up on further development and establishment of a back-up plan in case of risk, and utilizing SRM (Supply Risk Management) tools to intervene proactively, avoiding potential supply disruption. You will also monitor quality and supply of the supply base, including follow-up on further development/improvement and establishment of a back-up plan in case of risk.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as an interface to Engineering as well as various internal skill teams, including Product Development, Cost Estimating, Finance, and MP&L, ensuring purchasing strategies support their objectives. You will represent Supply Chain at cross-functional program/project management and launch meetings.
  • Market Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, technological advancements, and evolving regulations to inform sourcing decisions. Engage with external partners such as regulatory bodies, brokers, industry experts, benchmarking companies, industry associations etc to build a knowledge base on all transport modes.
  • Category Management: Support the team in developing strategies that deliver cost-effective, efficient, sustainable solutions. Support development of category strategy plans for Cockpit commodities, including robust Resiliency Planning in this highly volatile and complex area.
  • Drive Purchasing discipline: Lean into dashboards, AI Technology, digital transformation and Purchasing Policy. Ensure appropriate sign-off on contracts, risk assessments, deviations in accordance with Delegations of Authority.

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position is hybrid with a requirement to be onsite four or more days per week.
