Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Supply Base Management Specialist(Level 3) to join our dynamic team in Hazelwood, Missouri.

The Boeing Company is seeking a Supply Base Specialist (Level 3) to oversee supplier performance, development, and strategic execution for Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS).

In this mid-to-senior level role, you will manage a portfolio of critical defense suppliers, executing capability assessments, monitoring supplier health metrics, and driving root-cause corrective actions. You will serve as a vital link between supplier operations and Boeing programs, ensuring hardware, assemblies, and services meet strict military quality standards, cost targets, and delivery schedules.

Key Position Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates supplier/subcontractor business relationships, in-service requirements and performance to contractual obligations and expectations
  • Develops and participates in the implementation of supply base plans to support customer, program and commodity strategies
  • Analyzes and monitors supplier quality, delivery and financial performance data to identify risks, issues and opportunities
  • Develops mitigation plans
  • Identifies and participates in supplier and business improvement activities
  • Provides outcomes for potential integration into contracting strategies


Key Position Responsibilities:
  • Supplier Performance Management: Oversee day-to-day and long-term performance metrics (quality, delivery, and cost) for an assigned portfolio of defense and aerospace suppliers.
  • Supplier Capability Assessment: Conduct on-site and virtual evaluations of supplier manufacturing capacities, technical capabilities, financial health, and industrial safety compliance.
  • Risk & Issue Resolution: Identify operational bottlenecks within the supplier network; lead cross-functional teams to implement root-cause corrective actions and recovery plans.
  • Sourcing & Strategy Execution: Partner with Procurement and Supply Chain leadership to execute supplier selection, onboarding, and supply base consolidation strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement (Lean): Deploy Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma tools, and continuous improvement initiatives directly into supplier operations to optimize yields and reduce cycle times.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align supplier capabilities with internal requirements by bridging communication between Defense Engineering, Quality Assurance, Program Management, and Finance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and enforce supplier adherence to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (FAR/DFARS) requirements.


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position is for 1st shift.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An Interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations, or a related technical/business discipline
  • More than 3 years of related work experience in supplier management, procurement, supplier quality, or manufacturing operations.
  • More than 3 years of working knowledge of FAR/DFARS clauses, ITAR regulations, and aerospace/defense manufacturing compliance standards.
  • Experience utilizing enterprise ERP software (such as SAP) to manage supplier data, performance dashboards, or logistics tracking.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict-resolution, and cross-functional project management skills.


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience)
  • Current, active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance or higher.
  • Professional certifications in supply chain or quality (e.g., APICS CSCP, ASQ Certified Supplier Quality Engineer, PMP).
  • Experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or Theory of Constraints methodologies in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Strong technical aptitude with aerospace components, specialized machining, electronics, or defense hardware systems.


Typical Education/Experience:

Typically 6 or more years' related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor, Master, etc.) preferred, but not required.

Position may require travel up to 25% of the time.
