Job PurposeAs the Supplier Quality Engineer for Metallic Commodity, you will lead quality activities, quality strategies and the relationships with key suppliers to ensure CNH quality standards are met. You will be the driver of supplier quality excellence, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement for your supply base. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, including purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing plants, to improve quality of product and process.
This position can be based in our offices in Oak Brook, IL, or Racine, WI, and is eligible for our hybrid work schedule with three (3) days per week in-office, and two (2) days remote/home office.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupplier Quality Leadership
- Develop and implement a progressive supplier quality strategy for your commodity to enhance overall supplier quality performance.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives that promote supplier development, process excellence, and zero-defect culture.
- Cultivate long-term partnerships with suppliers through coaching, training, and collaboration.
Supplier Qualification & New Product Launch
- Lead new supplier selection and qualification processes through Potential Supplier Audits (PSA) and business case evaluations.
- Ensure adherence to Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Implement preventative quality strategies to mitigate risks before they impact production through Technical Reviews (TR), Quality Risk Assessments (QRA), Program Reviews (PR) and Process Audits (PA)
Supplier Performance Management and Process Excellence:
- Manage Supplier Quality Performance (SQP) and track and improve supplier quality metrics to ensure compliance.
- Ensure containment protocols are effectively executed to prevent non-conformities from reaching the production line.
- Enforce corrective and preventive actions (using 8D, 5Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, Control Plans, Poke Yoke and DOE methods) to resolve supplier issues efficiently.
- Lead resolution of top warranty issues for suppliers and contribute to Field Quality Index (FQI)
- Assist in Strategic Sourcing Program initiatives to enhance supplier quality and reliability.
Experience Required- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related field). An associate degree with 10+ years of relevant manufacturing and supplier quality experience in metallic components will also be considered.
- A minimum of six (6) years of manufacturing, quality, or supplier quality engineering experience supporting metallic components. At least three (3) years should be focused on supplier quality engineering, quality engineering, or quality management. Candidates should have hands-on experience with inspection methods (hard gaging and CMM), machining processes (manual and CNC turning, milling, grinding, broaching/key seating, and hobbing), and a strong understanding of GD&T. Experience with welding and/or CWI certification is a plus. Knowledge of special processes including heat treat, zinc, electroless nickel plating, chrome plating, manganese phosphate, and powder, e-coat, or liquid paint processes is highly desirable.
- Understanding and experience working with Advanced Quality Planning tools (design reviews, FMEAs, Contractual Control Plans, Inspection and Test plans, Gage R&R Studies, Capability Studies, SPC, 7-step or 8D corrective action process).
- Ability to travel up to 40% to 50% of the time within North America
Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience with precision-machined metallic components and their associated manufacturing and special processes is strongly preferred.
- Experience within the off-highway vehicle sector preferred.
- Prefer 3 years of experience managing a supply base or Project Management
- Professional certification CQE, CQA, CQMgr, CMfgE, etc. and/or Six Sigma
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Excellent computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, statistical software, etc.
- Ability to work with personnel at all levels of the suppliers' organization
- Ability to conduct meetings with and make presentations to platform leadership, industrial leadership, and senior management
- Self-driven, strong ownership of assigned jobs and passion to achieve high level of work.

Pay TransparencyThe annual salary for this role is $87,000 - $133,000 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
