These are highly independent positions designed for experienced quality professionals who can represent LANL interests at the vendor level with minimal day-to-day supervision. The primary focus will be vendor quality oversight, welding and mechanical inspection, quality audits, and surveillance activities, ensuring vendor work and deliverables meet applicable quality specifications and requirements.

The initial assignment is expected to be approximately one year, with the potential for extension and possible conversion opportunities.

  • Document inspection, audit, and surveillance findings clearly and accurately.
  • Work directly with vendor personnel to communicate quality expectations and address identified issues.
  • Provide technical interpretation and application of QA specifications and requirements.
  • Verify appropriate implementation of corrective actions and follow identified quality issues through resolution.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with vendor personnel, LANL stakeholders, engineering, and quality organizations.
  • Exercise independent technical judgment when evaluating vendor activities and determining appropriate quality actions.
  • Maintain a consistent onsite presence throughout the assignment with minimal travel outside the assigned facility.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting quality audits and/or surveillances.
  • Ability to interpret and apply quality specifications, technical requirements, procedures, drawings, and inspection criteria.
  • Experience evaluating vendor or fabrication activities for compliance with established quality requirements.
  • Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
  • Ability to operate independently in a vendor facility with limited direct supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to professionally address quality concerns with vendors and project stakeholders.
