CEIS | Government is seeking a qualified Industrial Hygiene Representative to support complex construction and infrastructure projects within a federal environment. This full-time role requires hands-on fieldwork, exposure assessment oversight, technical documentation review, and proactive hazard identification across dynamic job sites.
The selected candidate will support occupational health compliance, implement exposure monitoring strategies, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to protect worker health in high-hazard construction settings.
Primary Responsibilities- Perform project oversight inspections from an industrial hygiene perspective on active construction and infrastructure projects.
- Conduct industrial hygiene hazard assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate chemical, physical, and biological exposure risks.
- Develop and implement appropriate sampling strategies for airborne contaminants, noise, and other occupational health hazards.
- Execute field assessments and worksite audits focused on occupational health and environmental safety compliance.
- Review safety plans, health exposure assessments, and technical documentation for completeness and regulatory alignment.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, exposure monitoring, sampling results, and corrective action recommendations.
- Support implementation of exposure control strategies using the hierarchy of controls.
- Participate in project meetings, pre-construction briefings, and safety planning sessions.
- Collaborate with field teams, management, contractors, and EH&S personnel to promote a strong occupational health culture.
- Communicate industrial hygiene findings, exposure concerns, and recommended corrective actions to project stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement of occupational health practices across assigned projects.
- Must be physically capable of climbing ladders and stairs, working in varying environmental conditions, and operating a motor vehicle for jobsite access.
Minimum QualificationsCandidates must meet one of the following qualification pathways:
Option A - CIH Pathway- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Medicine, or a related physical or biological science.
- Current Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential.
- Minimum of five (5) years of full-time industrial hygiene experience.
Option B - Experience Pathway- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Medicine, or a related physical or biological science.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of full-time industrial hygiene experience.
Advanced Degree SubstitutionA completed master's degree in a related physical or biological science or related engineering discipline may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
A completed doctoral degree in a related physical or biological science or related engineering discipline may be substituted for one additional year of the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting federal, DOE, DOD, or other highly regulated government projects.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, and applicable occupational health regulations and standards.
- Experience supporting construction, infrastructure, industrial, nuclear, remediation, or other high-hazard work environments.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing industrial hygiene sampling and exposure monitoring strategies.
- Strong technical writing skills with experience preparing exposure assessments, inspection documentation, and corrective action recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently in active field environments while effectively coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with project teams, contractors, management, and client stakeholders.
