Full Job Description
A Snapshot of Your Day

In this position, you will manage the supplier qualification of coating, drilling, and assembly processes for gas turbine components, ensuring compliance with quality, deadlines, and cost requirements. You will provide technical support to suppliers and share responsibility for their qualifications, playing a key role in the development and industrialization of new production processes. Acting as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries and quality issues from both suppliers and internal partners, you will serve as the technical interface between design/engineering and manufacturing. Your responsibilities will include analyzing data to identify improvement potentials and initiating enhancements with our suppliers. As you gain experience, you will have the opportunity to engage in larger projects, further expanding your influence within the organization.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Contribute to decarbonization initiatives by enhancing the efficiency of gas turbine components, supporting the transition to more sustainable energy solutions.
  • Collaborate as part of a global team to manage product and process qualifications (PPQ) and oversee the production of hot gas components at assigned suppliers, providing critical manufacturability feedback to design teams while assessing manufacturing and delivery risks.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) projects by meticulously tracking milestones and budgets, coordinating efforts across teams, and proactively mitigating risks and delays to ensure successful project execution.
  • Utilize statistical data to drive improvements in supplier processes, focusing on reducing non-conformance costs and enhancing overall product quality and reliability.
  • Spearhead initiatives aimed at reducing costs and delivery times at coating suppliers, fostering stronger partnerships and optimizing supply chain efficiency.
  • Contribute to the technology roadmap and conduct feasibility studies for new designs and coating systems, ensuring alignment with industry advancements and operational capabilities.
What You Bring
  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, materials science, chemistry, or a comparable field, providing a strong foundation for technical expertise.
  • Several years of technical experience in thermal spraying processes, including Low-Pressure Plasma Spraying (LPPS), Low-Pressure Vacuum Spraying (LVPS), Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS), and High-Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) processes.
  • Basic knowledge of drilling processes (laser and FHEDM), welding techniques (laser and WIG), brazing, and supplier management, ensuring a well-rounded skill set for effective collaboration.
  • Proven experience in project management, demonstrating the ability to lead and coordinate complex projects effectively within a dynamic environment.
  • Background in working with cross-functional teams, particularly in the context of turbine hot gas parts, fostering collaboration and driving innovation.
  • Strong intercultural competence with a willingness to travel internationally (~25%), enhancing global collaboration and engagement with diverse suppliers and teams.
