*This position will be remote based (work from home) in the Los Angeles, CA area. The position will require frequent travel in Los Angeles, CA and therefore the selected candidate must live in this region.

What You Will Do

The Supplier Development Lead position (SDL) requires living & working in the Los Angeles area with 4 or 5 Pratt & Whitney suppliers to assist them on their journey to achieve platinum level performance. The suppliers in the area range from Casting and Forging houses to machining and even distributors. The SDL's function would involve training and coaching for root cause analysis of quality and delivery misses, lean manufacturing, cell design, capacity assessment, equipment maintenance, EH&S issues, and shop cleanliness. The SDL also works to improve the relationship between Pratt & Whitney and the supplier by improving the communications, minimizing the number of outside visits, catalyst for additional business opportunities, reducing financial risks, and developing long term relationships.

The typical daily tasks of the SDL are as follows:
  • On-site at supplier 80% of their time in the Los Angeles, CA area
  • 20% of the time working from home office
  • Perform assessments of the suppliers capability to perform and sustain performance through the SHA (Supplier Health Assessment)
  • Engage with the supplier to develop action plan (SCIP) to close the gaps between current state and gold level performance.
  • Track SCIP and drive closure to reach gold level.
  • Manage capacity constraints with proper planning and actions.
  • Conduct training and coaching on-site at the supplier to develop their team.
    Coordinating with P&W technical team to improve the design for manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with the PW purchasing team to stabilize production demands and find root causes and corrective actions for PW caused misses.
  • Establish leading indicators of performance and track weekly, on-site at supplier
  • Intervene as required to expedite deliveries and/or resolve quality issues


What You Will Learn

A supplier Development Lead will learn to work independently to improve a suppliers performance, profitability, and culture. Relationship building is the key to success in this role. SDL's must learn how to engage with a supplier and persuade them to create/grow a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
  • U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access certain necessary systems or sites
  • Reside in the Los Angeles, CA area


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience in Operations, preferably with a company doing investment castings, forgings, or machining. Additional experience in Quality, and/or Continuous Improvement roles strongly desired.
  • Strong Leadership skills and a demonstrated track record of accomplishment in business performance using ACE tools
  • Hands on experience with strong structured project management and problem solving skills in using ACE tools
  • Ability to work and communicate with the entire workforce: from convincing a shop floor operator to try a new work sequence to having strategic discussions with both PW supply chain team and supplier leadership team about overall approach and focus for Supplier Gold
  • Ability to initiate, lead and sustain change activities at the supplier
  • Operations experience running a shop or cell where lean manufacturing was implemented.
  • Significant engagement with lean manufacturing or operational excellence type tools
  • Six-Sigma Blackbelt
  • Raytheon Technologies or equivalent skills: CORE Certification
  • SHA certified assessor ITC / BAER experience

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
