- Serve as the command's senior technical advisor on business development, operations, and strategic plans for the agency.
- Perform the full range of supervisory duties to include recruiting, assigning work, developing training plans, and evaluating performance.
- Formulate strategies, operating budgets, and justify program resources.
- Perform detailed analysis of cost, schedule, and performance for agency programs.
- Work closely with service components and other personnel to assure timely coordination and resolution of issues.

Basic Requirement for a Supervisory Operations Research Analyst
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing technical leadership in strategic planning; formulating strategies for budget programs; and researching methods to analyze cost for agency programs.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted. It is imperative that supervisors serve as models of ethical behavior for subordinates. Supervisors have a responsibility to help ensure that subordinates are aware of their ethical obligations under the Standards of Conduct and that subordinates know how to contact agency ethics officials. Supervisors are also responsible for working with agency ethics officials to help resolve conflicts of interest and enforce government ethics laws and regulations, including those requiring certain employees to file financial disclosure reports. In addition, supervisors are responsible, when requested, for assisting agency ethics officials in evaluating potential conflicts of interest and identifying positions subject to financial disclosure requirements.
