In this position, you will supervise a team of administrative personnel who coordinate and perform a wide variety of management and support services essential to United States Border Patrol (USBP) operations. Your work directly supports and significantly affects the organization's operations and objectives by ensuring efficient and effective administrative services for a client population comparable to a major portion of a small city or rural county.
This position starts at a salary of $89,508.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $116,362.00 (GS-12, Step 10).
As a
Supervisory Mission Support Specialist, you will be responsible for leading a team that delivers comprehensive administrative and management support to United States Border Patrol operations. Typical duties will include:
- Supervising Mission Support Specialists and Assistants, providing mentorship, training, and constructive feedback to ensure effective performance.
- Serving as a subject matter expert reviewing payroll, travel, inventory, and other station administrative processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Maintaining staffing records and preparing updated workforce reports for station leadership.
- Processing and submitting personnel actions related to promotions, reassignments, transfers, and awards.
- Providing travel guidance and support and acting as liaison between the station and Sector Workforce Management and Finance on staffing and budget questions and issues.

QualificationsExperience: You qualify for the
GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
- Coordinating performance management activities, including assisting supervisors with performance appraisals and administering employee award programs;
- Reviewing and approving travel vouchers in an electronic travel system (such as Concur) and generating travel-related reports to ensure accurate reconciliation of travel expenses;
- Serving as a subject matter expert on payroll and timekeeping issues in automated systems (such as WebTA and BPETS), resolving complex pay and leave discrepancies;
- Certifying payroll in an automated time and attendance system (such as WebTA), ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable pay and leave policies.

Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. If you do not meet the residency requirement and you have been physically located in a foreign location for more than two of the last five years, you may request an exception to determine if you are eligible for a residency waiver by meeting one or more of the following conditions:

Additional informationSupervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18 month probationary period upon appointment.
Leadership Training: All newly appointed first-time CBP Supervisors are required to complete mandatory training. The training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The duration of the training will include 3 weeks of in residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV. Note: This training may be waived if previously completed.
